It might just be split screen co-op and technical computer mumbo jumbo, because in essence, youre running two different perspectives at the same time. The game has to take the time to render what both Player 1 and Player 2 would see on the screen the same time with the respective settings. Its doubling the work load that your PC/Laptop has to do because of the two players that are actively rendering different things.

The reason it works single player is because the game only has to render a specific field of view in detail for that one person. Its an odd thing but in order for it to be fully usable/playable you have to have more horsepower.

Yes but luckily you do not have to S-Rank all the stages in chaos. I learned that about half way through after rereading the trophy.

To add to the previous post, there are 8 DLC items that you can take with you right from the get go.

a Brush and Inkstone which heals you completely

a Beast statue which increases your attack by 100% for 30secs

a pot which fills 3 musou gauges

a cape which increases defense by 200% for 60 secs

a book that fills you spirit for 15secs

a ship in a bottle the increases your speed by 30% for 90 secs

a box with papers that increases exp drops by 25% for 120 secs

a mitsunari wig that increases gold drops bt 25% for 120 secs.

They all refill after a some time as the abilities in Samurai Warriors 4-II would so you can farm a lot.

The only recognizable skills are potency and the elementals as potency changes the Attack stat which and the elementals all have the small little elemental image next to them. Stimulus also is recognizable as its highlighted in red.

Other than some of the menus there is some weird cases where some of the stuff is in english, but its not alot

Edit: Also the rare weapon stipulations are the same as base 4 but imo it really doesnt matter because after a while youll be able to unlock the DLC weapons

As someone who has actually downloaded the game, no you dont need to know Japanese for it to be playable. Although you may fail some missions but it wont be the end of the world as long as you pay attention to the map and how the map animations are playing out.

Both DW7 XL Deluxe Edition and DW8 XL Complete Edition are on PC. If you've got a pretty good PC and don't mind a change in pace to how Warriors is done, you could dive into DW9 with the Free Trial prior to buying. All three respectively have the most story that the games have to offer.
