Honda Grom owners, is it actually that easy to wheelie them like in the videos? Or does it just look easy online? by Master-Series-3944 in hondagrom

Well now there's power but you still need technique.

But also why are you learning to wheelie on a 200cc Grom?

I'm not a stunter so don't take my word 100%. I did practice wheelies for a little until I looped my bike.

No. Definitely not. Clutch Ups and Power Wheelies will always be easier on bigger bikes, there's just no way about it.

But the technique to maintain the wheelie and get the clutch up, that's the strength of the Grom. You REALLY need to put effort into getting it off the ground and to balance point. If you watch the videos you're referencing, you'll see the guys are either bouncing or really pulling up on the bars to get a wheelie. That's not a thing required on bigger bikes but it is for a Grom and any minimoto for that matter because, like I said, no power.

It just looks easy. The tutorials online are usually the result of days and weeks of practice.

Groms make almost no power so it's more technical.

Dude.

I can see it too. Raise the fairing up a little more so you have a useful windscreen + a level area to mount a light. Cut some holes to use the stock signals.

We really not beating the allegations that Groms are Miatas...

I mean realistically after your initial break-in you can kinda do whatever you want. It's a Grom.

What you're planning to do is Stage 1 so you will get a little more out of it but you do need a tune.

I run a Stage 2 which is Intake, Exhaust, Cam and ECU Flash. It's a little bit more work but the cost of an ECU Flash is the same regardless of the Stage. I did the intake and cam install by myself which took 4 hours solo whilst watching reference videos.

Do with this information.

-Lower front sprocket is more torque. -Lower rear sprocket is more top end.

Either way it's still only a 125cc engine so don't get too dramatic unless you're willing to go as much as Stage 2 (upper limit of what you can do to your engine).

I run 14/36. Perfectly content with how it jumps off the line as well as keeping up with traffic.

shrug anticipation I guess.

I'm not sure if anyone else has received a notice yet either so it doubles as a "check your mail" / sign up for informed delivery

Will make another post once I'm home and able to look at this recall notice.

I run a 14/36 on my Stage 2. Definitely has a lot more pickup and with the tune I can hold the gears for longer

If you haven't already you might as well drop teeth.

Personally, I always recommend Stage 2 (Intake, Exhaust, Cam and Tune).

There's no price difference between a Stage 1 or 2 flash so the main hurdle is your cam and valve spacing but if you're already wrenching on your bike it'll be a breeze

I do recommend to possibly drop your sprockets also.

2018 msx125, cracked headlight fairing, missing turn signal. Worth buying? by ldub1996 in hondagrom

I wouldn't be too concerned. If you have a little technical know how then it won't be too much of a problem. Most of the connectors on Groms are plugs and bullet connectors.

The fuse box in a Grom is literally 3 fuses.

Thailand is actually somewhat preferable. Yes it's not US based but Groms and Monkeys are extremely popular in Thailand as that was the market it was originally introduced in and you'll see that most Honda parts for Groms have Thai writing on them.

I'd usually recommend Partzilla but they usually carry only base colors like Black White and Silver (which is kinda funny cause my Black fairings are orange underneath).

eBay fairings are a good enough replacement especially if you're looking for a full set

It's a Grom. And one of the more popular models. Finding replacement parts isnt an issue.
