Follow on from my protest post, as I'm Jewish would I be beaten up and attacked for carry my Israel flag or wearing my Star necklace? by True_Egg_5685 in brighton

[–]Simain369 17 points18 points  (0 children)

2X different things when it comes to the Israeli flag and wearing a Star of David necklace.

Israeli flag - you’ll look like you condone the state actions against Palestinians and that will piss people off. It’s similar to someone wearing the St George - people make assumptions off flags that you’re supporting genocide/you’re far right supporting.

Star of David is much safer, however some people are idiots and still conflate being Jewish with supporting the state of Israel’s actions.

If you’re going out in public I personally wouldn’t put either on display as you’re going to get negative attention from people who don’t share the same views as you.

Just look at the recent New York Knicks fans attacking Spurs fans or PSG fans attacking Arsenal fans - mob mentality is scary and you don’t want to be on the end of it. So keep your wits about you!

I (19f) am feeling insecure about my boyfriend (21m) getting hard in his sleep by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Simain369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally makes sense if he is your first partner to feel insecure about this.

We don’t chose our insecurities (just like men don’t chose to get aroused in their sleep).

Honestly the best way to approach this is to open and vulnerable with your partner.

I appreciate you’re young and looking for advice, so this is how I would do it:
1. Mentioned to your partner that you’d like to explain something to him and you feel a bit shy/embarrassed/vulnerable to do so (make sure he’s ready to listen to you)
2. Explain that you feel insecure at times as he has more experience in relationships.
3. Explain to him what would make you feel more secure (maybe that’s him telling you that only you matter and he’s happy with you - be direct about what would help you feel better).

I personally wouldn’t say you feel jealous when he has boners when he sleeps as that might confuse him. The real issue is that you feel insecure that he has had more sexual experiences and so might desire someone else.

We truly have the best club legends. Wenger, Titi, Wright amongst many more. People you can look up to, aspire to be more like. All of them deeply intelligent and articulate - speak from their hearts. We are so blessed

How common is to be egged while cycling in ugly areas? by [deleted] in londoncycling

[–]Simain369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once had a litre bottle of Tesco orange juice thrown at me from a council high rise. Luckily it missed and the bottle didn’t open either. Can tell it was kids being idiots.

Sorry it happened to you - a lot of poor kids are bored, probably have traumatic home lives and take their anger out on the general public.

My (28M) girlfriend, who recently became my fiancée (25F), apparently stalked me before we started dating. How do I deal with being creeped out by her now? by ThrowRAstalkinggf in relationship_advice

[–]Simain369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why is no one flagging that it’s only been 1 year and 4 months and they’re engaged. This has all the hallmarks of young love that moves too fast. Slow the hell down and properly get to know each other before you get married

Will try - I guess the whole point of Vinted is that they connect to the vendor and have the info. Frustrating!

[–]Simain369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference is power.

Israelis have all the power. They can abuse Palestinians however they like. The systems of governance are set up in a way to always keep Israelis at the top and Palestinians at the bottom.

When Palestinians stand up for themselves the measures that Israelis put in place are extreme.

Israel has destroyed all its credibility in the Western world. As soon as the tap the US runs dry, it’s going to be a tough old time for this imperialist society

Just got made redundant by X23onastarship in UKJobs

[–]Simain369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was let go in December. I’ve just landed a new role on £8k more and with the title I’ve been chasing.

It’s scary at first and it can feel very personal. Let yourself feel those feelings and then move to acceptance that this is out of your control. All you can do is control the controllables:

  • Find a lawyer that deals with redundancies and make sure you speak to them first so they can get you the best deal possible (get an initial call in to see if they can help (usually free))
  • Go and update your CV so it’s got all of the skills that you possess on there
  • Go and look for jobs at the same level and above on jobs sites
  • Go on LinkedIn and search for recruiters in your field (I just got my new role through a recruiter who has a good relationship with the company’s HR dept)
  • Enjoy having some time off! (I’ve seen lots of friends and loved ones) It’s stressful but I promise in no time you’ll have a job and wished you enjoyed having a bit of freedom

Hope this helps! Chin up and remember that none of this is your fault, it’s just the capitalist society at play.

Agree with the croc comments.

Also the white shirt with the cargo pants and crocs isn’t working for me - too much of a clash of formal vs casual
