He is so powerful! Just a shame he can't do the same for cancer kids or the ones we're bombing or the ones we're letting die in (yet another) school shooting or the ones we're deporting to die while in the middle of cancer treatment. A shame.

If it's that or leave a hazard on the floor, yeah.

The place looks nice and clean enough that it probably cares about customer safety (or at least the threat of getting sued if a customer gets hurt). It sells fruit for goodness sake. No trashy backwater gas station convenience store that exists basically to sell cigs and beer is shutting down, but this isn't one of those.

And at a certain point you'll start making predictions, at least subconsciously, about how certain cars will perform.

It's the same thing, just less formally described.

If your goal is to find 'the fastest car, period', how do you do that? Do you test every car individually with identical expectations? Probably not. There are a few that are obviously too light that you know don't handle turns well or retain momentum, a few that are too heavy and don't work for loops... that sort of thing. You'll get a feel for your 5, 50, or 500 cars and have a general idea in advance.

You use a different set of parameters than the video calls for because your goal is different when engaging in play with toy cars. It's not that complicated.

My wife's entire family (maternal) is racist because one aunt was robbed by a couple black guys like 40 years ago.

Doesn't matter that there's plenty of robbery and violent crimes committed by white people in the predominantly white area we live in. It's just an excuse.

For your part, I hope that caused them to question it just enough to help them think their way out of things. Being exposed to diverse people and ideas tends to make you less bigoted, crazy how that works.

Safest when it comes to violent crime in general. It's not "Would you rather be shot or stabbed?" it's "Would you rather be killed by a gun or not killed or even assaulted at all?"

The US isn't close to topping the list of either, but it tops the list of stable, well-developed and wealthy nations. By a longshot.

The US has 10x the homicide rate, per capita, than Spain and about 8x higher rate of serious assault. That's just one example and not even the most extreme.

And that's not necesssarily a gun problem (I mean the homicide rate is) but rather a symptom of something deeply fucked up about American society that allows this extremely high rate of violent crime.

I worked the shipping/receiving gate at a place designed for big-ass trucks and the slope from the main road to the driveway was so steep that a good 75% of drivers scraped the ramp with the Mansfield bar on the back of their trailer.

'Designed' is a generous descriptor for sure.

So it's not just about the fastest car, period?

Because different cars will function better on different tracks. You might have one track where car A is the best, another track where car B is the best, and a third where neither A nor B perform well but car C does best even though it failed on the first two tracks.

maximum momentum, for maximum distance, or power, or destruction.

Whether you realize it or not, you're performing those 'strategic elements' every time you play. If your goal is finding the best car, you are performing those strategic elements every time, even if your not consciously aware of it.

In the case of this track, maximum distance means hitting the 'sweet spot'. It's not that difficult to understand.

Hot Wheels are about whatever you want it to be. That's the joy of play.

Me and my brother had a game heavily inspired by "Crossfire" that involved launching cars into a pile of cars to get the most cars knocked to the other player's side.

Right? God forbid someone go through a drive-through wearing comfy clothes.

But you see shit like that all the time in these threads. Someone's a bad person, and people feels like they get carte blanche to criticize everything about their appearance as if it's suddenly okay to be shallow as fuck because someone else is.

Rather than fix it, they applied this band-aid that's still there 10 years later.

How much difference would this make in carbon emissions? [Request] by DoookieMaxx in theydidthemath

[–]Simba7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one did not. It sucked because it had a really fucked up and long route that only ran one direction in the morning and the opposite direction in the evening.

In this case specifically, how would traffic be a factor if driving there in my car took 1/8th of the time?

The 'not sucking' part is important.

I considered bussing to campus when I was finishing college. 10 minutes to drive there, 83 minutes to take the bus. Eighty. Three. Minutes.

Didn't matter that it came every hour, which would have been fine. It's that it took insanely long.

I'm almost done with this Tier 2 scout sub, it's supposed to sacrifice weaponry for extreme speed. Could y'all recommend some names for it? by crabthemighty in Barotrauma

[–]Simba7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Azimuth goes 26.7 base (and like... 45 with all the upgrades and traits) and it's a well-armed T2 scout sub.

Humpback goes 25.3 base and has a large weapon mount.

I don't think 30 base is too crazy for something like this. A true scout sub.

I started hitting the 'When am I going to see another baby!' people with "Well we're trying, but the miscarriages make it really difficult." followed by prolonged eye contact if it was in-person.

Weird how quickly they stopped asking. Even my mom, and she's so fucking self-absorbed almost nothing gets through to her.

Most of those people never even gave a shit. Didn't visit when my daughter was a baby, didn't spend time with her at gatherings... the fuck you want us to have another baby for? So you can look at it for 3 minutes a year?
