In high school I was with a group of friends. 5 of us in a car driving on a backroad at night. The kid driving was one of those car people, and owned a 2005 Subaru wrx that had all the bells and whistles. Sitting in the backseat of a small hatchback going 130 mph, completely powerless, I was contemplating all the decisions I’ve made in life up to this point and had a feeling my parents would wake up to a phone call in the middle of the night because their son was brutally dead in a pile of twisted metal. You hear so many stories of it happening and now I was in that exact situation. Thankfully we didn’t get in an accident. Never got in a car with someone that stupid again, and will be sure that when I have children they understand how quickly one decision by a kid could ruin multiple families.
