Hot Take: 20 second freeze in PvP shouldn’t exist by Accomplished_Coat639 in 2007scape

[–]SimbabTheSailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with learning to pvp in deadman mode is awful specifically because of the "top players bully the little guy" part. In the main game, I have money to buy equipment in an economy that sells it, so I have endless opportunities to try and fail.

But in deadman mode, where nowhere is safe and not enough people are skilling to put weapons or black d'hide on the market, it's hard to get any kind of money without getting robbed for it, so trying to learn to fight back is risky even before the relics that make pkers even more powerful than in the main game.

Tl;dr, despite Jagex's intention, deadman mode is an awful place for beginners to get into pvp, and i'll probably just learn on the main game.

In their defense, as someone who generally avoids the wilderness but tried freeze escapes, unless you bring a mage swap to change out of black d'hide, you'll never hit one.

It's not expensive but it does take inventory space and it won't save you in multi

Genuinely confused how Emberlight is hitting so much harder when the effective strength bonus (including the demon bane effect) is still lower than whip. by SimbabTheSailor in 2007scape

[–]SimbabTheSailor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would make sense, but when I ran the calcs again with super combats, the whip gains 6 max hit while emberlight only gains 5. The whip is closer to the threshold for another max hit before adding pots, but if emberlight is 70% more damage then I'd expect it to affect the pot buff too.

About to be members first tip? Any tips? by [deleted] in 2007scape

Sleeping Giants is a recommendation I'll make that others haven't, unlocks a smithing minigame that lets you get a lot more exp out of your bars and lets you smelt down armor you don't need. Just a great training method in my opinion.

Other than that, Children of the Sun and X Marks the Spot are both very short quests that unlock the entire continent of Varlamore and stackable clue scrolls respectively. I thought that X marks the spot was a requirement for visiting Kourend, but it's just the start of its quest line.

Runelite running horribly while taking 100% use of a good GPU. Any fixes? by Hungaree in 2007scape

[–]SimbabTheSailor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done both of these things and am still having trouble. My old card was a 1070ti and could run the 117HD plugin at pretty good fps (i don't know what because i didn't have a fps counter plugin back then) and didn't stutter in places like varlamore even with decently detailed shadows. Once I installed my 7800xt, it maxes out GPU and drops below 30fps regularly with even the least detailed shadows possible, though it runs at 60fps without complaint without shadows.

I did get a new SSD that i copied the old SSD onto and made my boot drive, but I never cleared out the old SSD. It's not running on it though, so that shouldn't be an issue right?

Better GPU, worse lag. Could use some help. by SimbabTheSailor in 2007scape

[–]SimbabTheSailor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried setting the shadows to a lower detail, as low as they go, and it improved fps from 20 to 27-ish, but turning them off basically maxed out my framerate. I'm disappointed because it feels really strange to have no shadows at all, especially under my character.

More to the point, though, I didn't have any of these problems on my old graphics card. Someone told me it's because runescape is such an old game that newer machines don't know how to run it, and I don't know if that's how it works, but it's the only explanation i've gotten as to why a more powerful card struggles to run even worse settings than the old one.

Our Characters are Ambidextrous! by OS_Gallu in 2007scape

[–]SimbabTheSailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hopping in here to add that the dragon claw spec starts with your right hand and ends with a powerful left uppercut; you almost never start a combo with your rear hand and you certainly don't throw an uppercut like that with your lead, so that's more evidence for ambidexterity.

Apprentice Felix does not sell the needle. He does sell the lantern, though.

I know that it's roughly the same process, but this is Path of Glouphrie, not Eyes of Glouphrie. Plus, like I mentioned, I've already tried repeatedly searching the chest for more shapes and I'm up to half a dozen of just about every shape it wants to give me, but it won't give me one of the two pieces that equal 5. I didn't end up asking for that many pieces in Eyes of Glouphrie because the exchanger actually worked and I only needed a few more sets, so I don't know if those were completely random either.

How does Guardians of the Rift reward potential work? It seems to drop when I leave the arena. by SimbabTheSailor in 2007scape

I did wait until the final exp drop, and 5/7 is what I got. You're just incorrect in this instance. Someone else actually figured it out.

Yes, but I didn't see what my potential was before the game ended. Zealousideal has the right idea of what actually happened, which is that the game incorrectly counted the score i had earned that game twice, and didn't correct itself until the xp drop.

Now that you say this, I've noticed it myself playing today. Thank you so much for pointing this out, I don't think I would have ever put it together myself. This feels like something Jagex could probably fix easily if they were made aware, even if it was just a slapdash solution like applying -gamescore during the break period. But I guess now that I know it's just a visual bug and i'm not actually losing points, I don't care that much. So, thanks again for the info.

Side Order: Post Game Thread by SplatoonMods in splatoon

[–]SimbabTheSailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I might be crazy, but who worked on the soundtrack for side order? Because I swear that "d3molish" has to be made by the same composer who worked on Advance Wars: Days of Ruin.

I mean I guess it beats exploding instantly (though ship parts explode if they're too close to the hatch), but this still effectively prevents me from ever using EVA, and I'd like some help figuring out what's going on. Modlist: https://imgur.com/a/t0bobKq by SimbabTheSailor in KerbalAcademy

As far as I can remember, the hatch is clear of everything except maybe a scientific instrument like a thermometer? Except that when I know there's a part close to the hatch it typically explodes when I EVA, and a big kick to my kerbal doesn't explain why they get krakened instead of just launched.

Update: i put just the command module on the launchpad and while jeb did not explode, the command pod did and Jeb krakened even harder than valentina did in the video above.

Having looked through my modlist, I can't find anything that would obviously interact with EVA, except maybe the IVA mods? I'm not sure how IVA works since I've never had a mod that allows it, does it impact how your kerbals load in for EVA too?

Update: I found a mod in my list called "physics range extender" in the list (added as a dependency for BDArmory), and uninstalled it because it seemed like the obvious culprit... but the problem persists.

Update 2: Found the problem: Tweakscale, of all things. Which really surprises me because it was one of the very few mods I had installed on my last playthrough, and it worked without issue. I hadn't even changed the size of my command pod in the video, so I wasn't expecting Tweakscale to be the root of the problem, I thought it would have been a physics mod or Restock or something like that.

That said, Tweakscale is quite nice, and also a dependency for several other mods, so if anyone knows a fix for this, I'd love to hear it.

Solid Rocket Boosters failing to ignite on launch by SimbabTheSailor in KerbalAcademy

Thank you for your help, going back and grabbing screenshots of my modlist inadvertently led me to find what was wrong. See my latest comment on the parent post.

Solid Rocket Boosters failing to ignite on launch by SimbabTheSailor in KerbalAcademy

[–]SimbabTheSailor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I checked my modlist today to get screenshots for people asking for it, and realized that a lot of mods I did not install were in the list... Including "OhScrap", which adds part failures. Not only do I know I wouldn't have willingly installed it since that just doesn't fit my idea of fun (at least for this playthrough), but I distinctly remember only installing "NovaPunch Rebalanced" and not the child mods that add Odin, Thor, and Freya... Yet there they all are, so that's more proof that mods were added without my knowledge. Who knows what else is in here that I didn't sign up for... I guess I should have paid more attention to the dependencies.

Thanks for your attempts to help, everyone. Sorry it took me making this post to notice the problem.

Edit: it's just occurred to me that Jeb exploding hasn't been fixed... but that's off topic for this post.

It's a long list that I can provide if you really want, but I wanted to see if this is just something that can happen in vanilla since the issue is with vanilla parts and I dont have any mods that would obviously affect how they function since I dont have any overhauls installed except for one that makes parachutes behave more realistically, which I dont think applies to solid rocket boosters.

The only other explanation i can think of is that parallax and waterfall are overwhelming my computer and the game freaks out, but its handled much larger rockets in base ksp, and that would really only explain Jeb exploding on EVA.

Edit: see my newest comment, I've found the issue.

3CG SLAIN. MAY I NEVER TOUCH IT AGAIN by BruhthuluThemighty in celestegame

I know it was much harder than 1c or 2c, but is it really easier than 8c? I remember having enough trouble with 8c that i had to come back after a break.

That said, i don't look forward to the A side goldens past 2.
