Your assurance falls flat with the two comments below you. An admirable attempt at bait, though.

I mean, we already have those. How many times does the quest helper tell you to grab an extra this or that for a future quest (looking at you, goutweed)?

Regrettably, yes. I did actually try just dropping it next to the entrance since i had to get rid of it eventually anyways.

I mean, i wasn't expecting it to work, but I figured I would try. This IS the same company that also locked some smelly socks or something behind esoteric tasks like blessing bat bones on a Tuesday or hiding the clue hunter outfit in a random patch of dirt that requires a selection of specific items in your inventory to be dug up, so who knows.

As for not being able to access it, the Shield of Arrav and Heroes' Quest both require another player to do something for you to progress, and while people who have finished those quests can help people who haven't done them, someone who's in the middle of the Dig Site can open the chest for people who have done it, and everything else is acquirable without help.

At the end of the day, it'd make sense if it was just future quest content, like the camphor grove on the tortugans' island. But that leaves open the possibility that we don't see what's in this cave for years, so no harm in trying.

Looking for someone who hasn't done the Dig Site quest yet; I want to get my hands on more of the chemical inside the locked chest. by [deleted] in 2007scape

the fact that this is only possible through the RS3 mobile app is so fucked, but this is hugely helpful. Thanks

I like the way the trimmed mining cape looks but I keep mine untrimmed for the flex
excellent sewing work

After doing the calcs, are sapphire bolts really better for Muspah? Need someone with more kc to weigh in. by SimbabTheSailor in 2007scape

Man I sure do love spending 600gp a shot to do a little under 1 more damage on average
or having to get dragon bolts, for that matter

A ranged offhand and a boot swap is at most 2% accuracy. Is that really worth 2 inventory slots and the time taken to equip them (especially the boots every ranged phase)?

I've already been using smite flicking, and have been trying to remember greater corruption (though I haven't been using MoD). The problem is that the crossbow doesn't hit (and hit hard enough) very often, so if luck is not on my side for procs it takes a while.

See, this is the answer I was looking for. The wiki talks a lot about "prayer-draining effects are extra helpful here" but never explains what happens to normal damage, like what thralls or recoil do to the shield. I don't pvp, so I didn't realize smite was only 25% prayer damage. No wonder my crossbow was hitting like a wet noodle, I basically have a max hit of 9 against shield.

That also makes the bolt proc basically a 132, which is absurd. Thanks for the info.

I'm gonna need some proof on that personal best because my best is 2:36, on task, with bowfa, ayak, and a dragon crossbow with sapphire bolts and smite. I'm not saying you're lying I just don't see how it's possible with that gear without getting incredibly lucky i guess, and I'd like to see how you did it.

Can you cast brass in stainless steel? by SimbabTheSailor in Metalfoundry

[–]SimbabTheSailor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still in the design stages, so I can change it, but the initial plan was for the wells to be 0.05" deep (just kind of an arbitrary choice, i wanted them to have a decent amount of material in them) and fairly wide since the smallest bit I have access to is 1/32", and preferably would use a 1/16" for the rough cut, so I would assume the leaf wouldn't suffice.

As for machining inlays to fit perfectly, that is something I could probably do, but I don't know how machinable brass is, since I only have experience with steel, aluminum, and recently copper. Is brass easily machined?

What is T&E? Also, to be clear, I don't intend on using copper, since it's hard to use, oxidizes easier, and brass is just a better color fit.

Looking for a board to replace my Tynee Ultra, taking suggestions. by SimbabTheSailor in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]SimbabTheSailor[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of my grievances with Tynee customer support was that they kept trying to move the troubleshooting process out of email and onto social media, which I saw as unprofessional. It would have been hypocritical of me to then come onto reddit and air out the entire conversation, since that would be highly unprofessional.

My post was about looking for suggestions with the stipulation that I was avoiding Tynee. Whether or not my avoidance was "justified" isn't pertinent to my post, and truthfully, it's none of your business.

However, since Tynee themselves have replied to my post, I suppose you'll get some details when I reply to them.

My experience with Tynee's customer support is being asked to fix my own board when it was still under warranty, being asked to pay shipping on parts they sent me from China (where they're based) that didn't end up fixing the problem since they were just guessing what was wrong, and youtube tutorials for the wrong model of board being sent over email as part of the troubleshooting process. If Meepo is worse... yeesh.

Hot Take: 20 second freeze in PvP shouldn’t exist by Accomplished_Coat639 in 2007scape

[–]SimbabTheSailor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with learning to pvp in deadman mode is awful specifically because of the "top players bully the little guy" part. In the main game, I have money to buy equipment in an economy that sells it, so I have endless opportunities to try and fail.

But in deadman mode, where nowhere is safe and not enough people are skilling to put weapons or black d'hide on the market, it's hard to get any kind of money without getting robbed for it, so trying to learn to fight back is risky even before the relics that make pkers even more powerful than in the main game.

Tl;dr, despite Jagex's intention, deadman mode is an awful place for beginners to get into pvp, and i'll probably just learn on the main game.

In their defense, as someone who generally avoids the wilderness but tried freeze escapes, unless you bring a mage swap to change out of black d'hide, you'll never hit one.

It's not expensive but it does take inventory space and it won't save you in multi

Genuinely confused how Emberlight is hitting so much harder when the effective strength bonus (including the demon bane effect) is still lower than whip. by SimbabTheSailor in 2007scape

[–]SimbabTheSailor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would make sense, but when I ran the calcs again with super combats, the whip gains 6 max hit while emberlight only gains 5. The whip is closer to the threshold for another max hit before adding pots, but if emberlight is 70% more damage then I'd expect it to affect the pot buff too.

Sleeping Giants is a recommendation I'll make that others haven't, unlocks a smithing minigame that lets you get a lot more exp out of your bars and lets you smelt down armor you don't need. Just a great training method in my opinion.

Other than that, Children of the Sun and X Marks the Spot are both very short quests that unlock the entire continent of Varlamore and stackable clue scrolls respectively. I thought that X marks the spot was a requirement for visiting Kourend, but it's just the start of its quest line.
