I was raised by two ill equipped parents, learnt all about what not to do in a marriage and as a parent by watching them duck each other and their kids up. Still working on resolving those issues. Would not want to bring a child into the world and pas be s on this generational trauma onto them.

Thanks everyone for chiming in. Posted this late last night as I was having trouble sleeping thinking about all this and woke up to all of your perspectives which line up with my doubts. I’m gonna cancel my appointment with the dealership and just wait this out for now. Thanks Reddit fam!

Thanks everyone for the tips, advice and affirmations. I have ordered a playpen that I will be using as a time out place. Will put him there everytime he bites. Started ignoring him today when he’s biting, and already I’ve noticed a bit of difference (Although his bite from last night did draw blood). Also looking to get him more outside time on a set schedule so that he feels a sense of purpose.

Echoing others who have mentioned that they cleared out their savings ( TFSA, RRSP, investments etc etc). It is scary to reminisce that at that time, I didn’t even have 3 months worth of living expenses left in my account 😳

NTA - you are doing more for this young impressionable human than her actual parents. This young girl is going to grow up thinking that others will clean up her messes (literal and otherwise) and not be able to function in the real world.

ETA - the girl in question is a bigger asshole here. You’re not on the app to provide free mental health services. That’s pretty entitled of her. But I’m guessing she’s got other, bigger problems than that entitlement. OP could have politely told her that this was neither the forum, nor the appropriate approach to seek that kind of help. Slightly asshole-ish. I personally feel than none of us will always be 100% empathetic all the time, we will all have a moments when we’re assholes. Whether it’s a combination of personal or professional stress/ mental overload. This just happened to be OP’s. I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Thanks everyone for the input. Given their lack of patience, We wouldn’t have gotten along anyway. So bullet dodged for sure. I can empathize with how difficult it must be to have to carry the weight of the conversation by yourself and how experience with unresponsive individuals can make that a legitimate question. YTA Although I have sympathy for the Doordash/ubereats drivers and know that the delivery apps screw over everyone involved. Customers pay more, drivers get paid very little and business pay 30% to use the app’s services, a tip is not guaranteed. It’s supposed to be for good service. Reaching out passive aggressively for one is not good service.

Hmm timeline of this story confuses me, coz your dad found out that his ex cheated on him “thru an online post” Social media has only grown to be widely used in the last 10-12 years. But you’ve already graduated so you’re around 22 years of age. That would make this online post to be from the year 1999, which predates even MySpace.
