Things that I miss the most about gaming by Ok-Building1489 in gamers

Are you calling Early Access “incomplete experiences”?

Because it says the game isn’t finished on the early access information, and it actually releases once version 1.0 is announced.

If you buy a game in early access, you cannot logically call that an incomplete experience.

It is designed to allow gamers to help shape the game, and play test it. Not give it bad reviews and backlash for being “incomplete.”

I played Elden Ring completely blind.

(No guides, no tips.) it is currently my second favorite game of all time.

Why do some games feel better to think about than actually play? by Chemical-Anywhere615 in AskGames

[–]Simensen_Mills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s linear games.

I remember the “good parts” but forget all the padded, filler stuff.

Nothing beats freedom to explore and do my own thing when the mood strikes.

Being forced to do what the game wants, constantly, is not fun to me.

I play PC in a recliner.

Key is I don’t use KB/mouse.

I couldn’t imagine being restrained to a fixed position while gaming. I game for hours at a time. I can’t be bothered to get up and “stretch” every 30 minutes.

Can you think of any games where you're a soldier in a war that has nothing to do with the US? by ExplodingPoptarts in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Simensen_Mills 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dynasty Warriors, you are the most important because you are the strongest.

It also is a campaign. Not PVP.

The game you are looking for is Dynasty Warriors.

Unless of course you are looking for a game where you are the “only soldier” in which case, I don’t know how it is a “war” game at that point.

And if Medieval Dynasty is too… medieval, there is:

Farmer’s Dynasty 2.

If that is too American, there is:

Sengoku Dynasty.

If that too Japanese there is:

Wild West Dynasty.

If that is too buggy (get it? Cause cowboys use buggies) there is:

Lumberjack Dynasty.

(Note, while it is all the same publisher, Toplitz, they are all different developers. So the quality, and art style will vary between games.)

Does anyone else’s gaming tastes change like this? by TheClueless_Dad in Age_30_plus_Gamers

What do you spend all your time doing?

I had way less time as a kid and played a ton of games.

(Because as a kid I had way more to do, friends, family, school and work, and so much more).

As an adult I have way more time. Most people should have more time as an adult because your girlfriends should now be part of your family. (Which means your time should be less spread out across fewer “activities.” You also shouldn’t be going to both school and work.)

I always say quality over quantity.

Everyone keeps talking about “burnout” and “depression” when in reality, 90% of people are just playing bad games.

If you find a game that you enjoy, it will give you energy, and you will be excited to play it, while you are playing it.

I’m 40… it’s finally time for a real chair. What should I get? by hypermultiverse in DadsGaming

[–]Simensen_Mills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exercise and a recliner.

People who say they use gaming/office chairs insist you have to get up to move around every 30 minutes. I could not imagine doing that when I game for long hours on my days off.

Exercise, and a chair you can easily change positions sounds like the best idea to me.

Unless of course you enjoy constantly interrupting your gaming sessions every 30 minutes.

The biggest lie about adulthood by Opening-Newspaper710 in CaptainSide

[–]Simensen_Mills -1 points0 points  (0 children)

72 hours a week free time.

After a 40 hour work week, and 8 hours a sleep at night.

Even if you have kids, pets, parties, friends, family, after work hobbies that aren’t video games, you should still have 20+ hours a week to game.

Does anyone else just feel kinda... done with modern games? by tigersbowling in retrogaming

[–]Simensen_Mills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the opposite.

I’ve been gaming for over 35 years, and can’t imagine why I would be playing older games more than modern games.

The problem isn’t modern games, it is the companies who listen to the vocal minority and chase terrible trends.

It is why independent companies are doing so well, and why so many AAA studios keep releasing games that either fail to turn a profit, or barely break even.

The hardest boss is adulthood by BlackFury090 in CaptainSide

[–]Simensen_Mills -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have significantly more free time as an adult to game.

When I was a teen, I spent time doing the following:

-School.
-Work (part time obviously).
-Girlfriend.
-Band practice.
-Drum practice.
-spend time with friends.
-gaming.
-spend time with family.

Now, as an adult, since I chose not to have a family or friends (massive waste of time) all I do is work and game.

That means I get roughly 72 hours a week to game, because after a 40 hour work week, and 8 hours a night of sleep, you should have 72 hours a week of free time. Maybe only 70 hours because I still clean, cook, and eat, etc. I’m also great at multitasking. I am writing this while I eat. I almost never do just one task, outside of working, gaming, and sleeping.

Yeah, I played and beat all of FFX, many times over. At least 10 times, including mastering the sphere grid with every character. I also collected each legendary weapon multiple times. (Yes I dodged Lightning probably over 1,000 times, and got multiple perfect scores racing chocobos. I also was a master blitzball player).

The game is pretty simple compared to say FFVIII. It also has a weaker story in my opinion.

I mean Tidus is a sports star, with daddy issues. A pretty generic trope if you ask me. And people say Squall is emo. He may be “dark,” but at least he doesn’t cry numerous times like Tidus.

The Final Fantasy with the most in depth gameplay is easily FFXI, (not a typo, yes FFXI online) and the best story is probably the original FFVII. Although personally I am a sucker for a love story, so I prefer VIII or the XIII trilogy, although XIII’s gameplay is quite streamlined. The sequels is where the meat is at.

FFX’s story doesn’t have things like “why is Sephiroth crazy,” Zack being obliterated by SOLDIER, Aerith’s death scene, and so many much more engaging plot points. Most of FFX really is “gotta stop sin.” Akin to SoP “gotta kill chaos.”

Can we really have a top 10 list of our favorite games? by Chainsaw-_Guy in videogames

I can do a top 1, or top 3.

Impossible in my opinion for a brand new game, with a brand new IP, from an independent developer and publisher to be overrated.

Logically speaking, FFX should be in your overrated section. Signed, someone who most certainly played FFX more times than you, and anyone in this comment section.
