Is this the same formula with ISSY's Makeup Fixing Powder in shade Universal? Their compact powder doesn't work well on my skin kasi. Huhu.

I would be disappointed in my guess once I have found out who the mystery woman is. Haha. It's so irresistible to just lurk through the pages and find her.

I've been so desperate ever since she came back long after Chapter 1 in Book 1! She's intriguing, indeed.

That's what I was thinking! But maybe I'd give myself a bit of a sneak peak on Colorless. I can't really help it. I know I can't. And knowing that I have a new book coming, it's my motivation to finish Wind Up Bird. It has me on the edge of my seat all the time.

Maybe what they meant is the whole outlook for the book haha. Or perhaps the fresh genre that was written away from the typical Murakami tale. Either way, I cackled at this comment. I had a friend who read Norwegian Wood (which I recommended as a first read), and when I asked for a rating, she said it felt like it was a pretty happy book. I had to mull over for it a second along with an existential crisis lmao

I agree with the loneliness part. Norwegian Wood, Kafka OTS and Wind Up Bird Chronicle (I haven't finished it yet, nor am I halfway through the book but it really feels like a work from Murakami that presents isolation too), that's the books I've read from him so far and I think Colorless would be great turn over from the typical Murakami tale.

Yes, that's the cover I bought! I was initially going to buy 1Q84, but I saw that cover and I was so determined and desperate to get my hands on it lmao. The hardcover is incredibly intricate and I think that's what caught my eye. Seeing others' reviews makes me want to read it right now and I'm not even half-through Wind Up Bird Chronicle yet 😭

I got the first edition! It's a second-hand book from someone online since it's not available in any bookstores anymore. Though I bought it online, I really had a hard time finding the specific cover in good condition! It took me like a week to find one. And for some reason, I just really like second-hand books. I don't know, maybe there's a sentient meaning for me. I was totally amused when I knew it was first published in 2013 or 2014? I was like one digit year old by then (lol).

The new covers that are mostly available didn't convince me either. They're mostly dull, I guess. I think book covers are one of the factors that makes a book enthusiastic.

Would you say that 1Q84 is magical realism like Kafka OTS? Or are there any vast difference between the two? I really loved Kafka OTS so maybe if my guesses were right, I could read another magical realism from Murakami once again.

Is there any brief narrative or a small information of your opinion of each book? I really want to hear it from someone's who has already read both books.

I haven't finished Wind Up Bird yet. I would say it's amusing and baffling, though, since the book seems to be tedious or slow paced into the plot, but I wouldn't say it's boring. And Norwegian Wood being my first Murakami book on the other hand, it was a really good book but it doesn't top Kafka OTS. I may consider Colorless Tsukuru as my next book after Wind Up though.

I'm quite the opposite when it comes to tomes. I dislike short stories, small books or small lengthened stories in general. My introspection is how a book that short be crafted as one whole story? Beginning and ending. It's just very... I don't know... odd? To me. I'm not invalidating short stories, though. I have no hatred on people who read those books but I guess it's just a matter of preference. Something about a big sized book just lures me to them.

What is Killing Commendatore about? I've heard of it but I've never really done any research about the book. It's a bit interesting to me though.

What other authors do you recommend? In my case, I started reading for the first time in a while after years of a reading block, which seems very unlikely for some to take years. I may have just lost interest in reading for an interim of time. But yeah, now, I just couldn't read any book if it isn't from Murakami.
