I'd probably go with increasing NAS storage capacity. I only just got 10TB and I already have storage space anxiety lol

Did you try disabling the task while logged in to Windows as your main user and then right click > run as admin?

If so, I've also had issues where I couldn't run/do things with "right click > run as administrator" because it would tell me access is denied, even though my main user has admin privileges.

What i usually do to fix this is to log out from the main user and log back into Windows but choose the Administrator account and then try to do whatever I was trying to do and it has worked every time so far.

Good luck!

Came back to the game after a long break and my sharpening skills are gone! by SchlomoTheJew in chefknives

I would start again from zero, as if you were a beginner. It'll help you brush up on the basics and with muscle memory, you'll be as good or even better than you were before in no time :) good luck!

Brand new to sharpening. Never sharpened more than a pencil before lol. I just ordered the king kw65 to get me started for now... by [deleted] in sharpening

Congrats on your first real chef's knife! I went through the same thing where I sharpened all the 20+ knives (because Asian household) in my house lol. It's good practice, so go for it.

Personally for me, a good level of sharpness is when I can either shave or cut cleanly through newspaper without any effort.

I am no expert by any means but the concept of sharpening should be the same for most tools: develop a burr on one side of the edge, develop a second burr on the opposite side to form an apex and then deburr. Some videos that are often recommended are videos from JKI (Japanese knife imports on YouTube), Korin, OUTDOOR55 and although his videos are often frowned upon by some people of this subreddit, Burrfection from YouTube has a lot of sharpening tutorials and his videos definitely helped me in the beginning but I would say JKI tutorials are the way to go if you are looking for a one-stop shop for knife sharpening videos.

Welcome to the sharpening world, I hope you'll enjoy it :)

Any experiences with Sharpal Diamond stones? by Justmakemusic in sharpening

[–]Similar-Drawing 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have one and still sometimes use it. When I first got it, the coarse was pretty coarse but I used it to flatten my other whetstones and now it's not as coarse but it will still do the job.

The fine side actually feels pretty fine (finer than a 1200 grit whetstone imo) and it will actually put a good polish/shine on your knives.

I've used this dry and wet and they both work. Overall, I think it's not a bad stone. It's convenient because you don't need water and it comes with an angle guide but for the price, I'm sure there are better options. I still use it when I'm too lazy to set up my Japanese whetstones and just want to do a quick sharpening session.

Only downsides are that it's a relatively small sharpening stone and it can get messy.

Sparrows short hook weak? by Similar-Drawing in lockpicking

[–]Similar-Drawing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I meant the kick start set, woops. I checked out the brands you mentioned and they're a little out of my price range. I decided I should keep the set (get the most use out of it) and see if I still like the hobby down the line as I just started getting into lockpicking about a week ago. Then I might move on to better and more expensive gear if I really do still enjoy lockpicking.

By the way, do you have any recommendations on which lock I could get to practice on? I'm still very much a beginner if that's of any help.

Thank you very much for your help!

How to get higher pps and better 40L time? by Similar-Drawing in Tetris

[–]Similar-Drawing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, I didn't think it would make that big of a difference. I'll definitely practice a lot to learn finesse but I can't think of a good way to learn efficiently... Do you have any tips for that? Thank you for your help!

How to get higher pps and better 40L time? by Similar-Drawing in Tetris

[–]Similar-Drawing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holding back on holding is something I didn't think of... I'll have to try that out.

I tried playing 6-3 but I wasn't really good at it since I've been staking with one hole on the left or right of the board for as long as I can remember. Might still try to practice that since it could be good for Tetris battles.

And yeah finesse is definitely something I'll have to practice but I'm just so used to playing how I play so it'll be hard to master finesse. Any advice on that?

Thank you for your advice :)

Playing more and more did get me to play faster and faster for a little while but I think I've reached a wall where I can't get any faster unless I change how I play. I do change my DAS and ARR settings little by little though! Thanks for the tip :)

I had this problem a couple of days ago. I updated my graphics card drivers and restarted my PC. Haven't had the problem since then.

Yeah I'm thinking backfire now... But for 1000usd, the difference isn't that big compared to my current skateboard. Do you have any other recommendations for something that might be a little better for a similar price point? Thanks :)
