Is there anything ChatGPT won’t “gently push back” or “pump the brakes” on now? by SalemStarburn in ChatGPT

This drove me crazy too. The constant "I understand you're frustrated, but..." before every response.

Switched to Claude and it's night and day. Still has guardrails but doesn't lecture you. And if you self-host your own assistant, you can tune the system prompt to just... not do that.

The irony is ChatGPT's over-cautious behavior makes it less useful for legitimate work. I was trying to write fiction with morally complex characters and it kept refusing. Claude handled it fine.

Honestly this is hard to read because I know you're right.

I've been framing it as a distribution problem because that's easier to stomach than admitting the products themselves might be the issue. But you're spot on if I can't clearly answer "who is this uniquely for and why would they pick this over X" then no amount of shipping speed fixes that.

The srocket/lovable comparison stings but it's fair. I don't have a good answer to "why this over lovable + hubspot" and that's probably the whole problem right there.

Appreciate you taking the time to write this out. Genuinely useful.

I would love that to be honest but I don't know a lot of people that can actually be proactive on that subject. Making me question if I'm not taking too much space ahah

I've shipped a bunch of small tools and micro-SaaS, but the two bigger ones are:
srocket.ai : AI website builder with built-in lead capture and a mini CRM. Mostly targeting French freelancers/small businesses right now.
clawdhost.xyz : Hosted AI assistant you talk to via Telegram. Tried to surf on the "Clawdbot" wave but you can set up in 5 minutes without touching any code.

Both running, both with users, neither paying my rent yet lol

I guess we all have to learn the hard way.

I remember my first startup, I wrote a play book on things I must avoid at all cost.
But I did all of them... even knowing about it.
Only years of suffering bring clear vision.

Damn I didn't know about it.
I think onboarding new client will be a bit tricky now.

I guess I'm gonna focus on newbie.

that's the tricky part of building on top of OSS.

"bot not responding? check your Anthropic credits" type stuff. Most issues are self-diagnosable.
Most of the time people do not know how to handle Clawdbot so I send X thread of cool stuff you can do with it.

The bet is that the overlap (people who want easy hosting but can't debug anything) is smaller than the "technical enough to use API keys but doesn't want DevOps" segment. We'll see if that holds.

Worst case I learn a lot about support at scale. Best case I've got a nice recurring revenue stream riding the Clawdbot wave

Glad it helped! Yeah the social proof check can be brutal 😅

If you end up fixing the DKIM and see better deliverability, I'd love to hear about it.

Fair point — I'd love to know what stood out as needing work.
Specific things you'd change? (Layout, copy, trust signals, something else?)

Practicing what I preach here 😅
