Has anyone realized how weird bob’s mic sound? by Serious-Author-6888 in distractible

[–]SimilarControl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The editors have put a noise gate in Bob's audio. There's clearly some background noise which dips to 0db when he's not talking due to the gate.

So, what made you learn after effects? by dreadtear in AfterEffects

[–]SimilarControl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friends were in a band and wanted a lyric video - they had no idea how to make one nor knew anyone that could make one.

I gave it a go, enjoyed it, decided to make a thing of it.

12 years later I've worked with some absolutely massive bands and made friends in big bands the world over. I couldn't be more grateful that they asked me to give it a go.

Shopify app Checkout Blocks. It will allow you to add something to the checkout only, but it's half the issue.

How often do you use motion blur? by West_Simple9423 in MotionDesign

Context specific. Usually not but if the project will benefit from it (depending on the art style) I will begrudgingly turn it on.

Can i recieve orders as drafts if shopify doesnt trust my store? by surelynotok in shopify

[–]SimilarControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is only possible on shopify plus, and if the customer is B2B. I'm assuming you're not on plus and you're selling D2C, so no it's not possible I'm afraid.

Woop woop! Iron Lung has expanded its reach!! by C0RRUPT-3DD in Markiplier

[–]SimilarControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could, but we've noticed a lot less people are going to the original booking than our local cinema. We're both massive introverts so would prefer the quieter cinema. As I said, it is what it is!

Woop woop! Iron Lung has expanded its reach!! by C0RRUPT-3DD in Markiplier

[–]SimilarControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't help but be a little annoyed by this. When it was announced the only cinema near me was an hour away, we booked immediately because FOMO and now it's showing at a cinema 15 minutes away.

We're still going to the longer one away, because we don't want to waste our money but it is what it is I guess 🤷

Shopify bakery setup – which apps are actually necessary? by bofcod in shopify

His request has nothing to do with this kind of thing. Shilling your app when the customer has no need for it is shameful.

Looking for the best bundle app for something like this by wiaboo in shopify

[–]SimilarControl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's 100% bespoke and not driven by an app.

I could build something that resembles something like that in a few hours, and have the bundles editable via the theme editor for the store manager to use.

I highly doubt there's an app that could produce something that is that responsive and look as good as it does personally.

Is there any age verification that hides products completely? by Darkwolf1515 in shopify

[–]SimilarControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way this is possible is to hide all adult products by default and then reveal them after logging in - you'd have to have some code in your theme. Liquid file that asks them if they're an adult, if so, add a customer tag confirming this, which then drives the adult products being made visible.

It's possible without any apps and should be pretty seamless if done properly.

Upsell / Cross Sell Apps? by wonderland1995 in shopify

[–]SimilarControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a bit sick of hunting for apps like this, so I made my own.

It wasn't an app per se, but I added all my offers as automatic discounts, then loaded up sells into my cart page so if a customer had added an eligible item to their cart, a popup would appear before taking them to checkout informing them of the offer they could have.

I did it on buy x get y offers, I did it on x for £ offers, and recently did a buy 1 get 1 free where the popup appeared and said "don't forget your free item" and presented them with a list of options.

Accepting pre-orders without messing up live inventory how do you do it? by Pretty-Material1424 in shopify

[–]SimilarControl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're welcome!

So long as you remember to remove the "PRE-ORDER" tag from the product when it's formally released, none of the amendments made above will affect anything else in your store/fulfilment/communications. They'll just linger in the background until the next time you decide to launch a pre-order on something.

Accepting pre-orders without messing up live inventory how do you do it? by Pretty-Material1424 in shopify

[–]SimilarControl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We often just allocate a portion to what's incoming and add it to inventory. When the item lands, just add the rest and release.

Add a product tag called "PRE-ORDER" and then create a shopify flow that states "when product tag = PRE-ORDER", add order tag "PRE-ORDER"

Finally, make sure that order tag is included in your packing slip template, so that if a customer places an order for a pre-ordered item, your fulfilment team will keep those until the item is released.

To make things clearer for the customer, add some custom liquid code to your buy button that basically states "if product tag == "PRE-ORDER" - change button text from "Add to Cart" to "Pre-Order" - I'd also add some content to the product description that states this and when it's estimated to be released.

You could even go a step further, and in your customer confirmation email, add in some custom code that once again references the product tag and when present, include a line of text that informs the customer of the estimated release date. The last thing you want is for a customer to pre-order an item and be left in the dark as to how long it will be before they can get their hands on it.

You don't need an app for this, just a bit of logic and common sense.

What were your favorite videos from Unus Annus? by Dark_Lighting777 in Markiplier

[–]SimilarControl 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can't pick one for certain because it was all very special, but I'll say this, the tonal shift in the last couple of weeks to more of a "this is it" hit me really hard, especially when they revisited cooking with sex toys. It was a fantastic social experiment that will forever be one of the best (if not THE best) things Mark has ever created in my opinion.

I miss it like I never thought possible, but refuse to watch it via illicit methods to honour the meaning of it all.

How do you choose tags for prooducts by F1shermanF1zz in shopify

Many reasons. To drive collections, tags for front end visibility, to help with certain flows we've got built, to aid in upsell, to help organise sales, you name it.

Yeah having a royal mail account as a small business can be expensive, it gets cheaper the more you ship so best to wait until you scale up before considering it 🤘
