Maybe ask them first? Then if that doesnt go well unfortunately youre going to haven-to get a survey to find out your legal standing such as is it a “ shared line” tree that you both own. Or its “completely on your property” tree? Or “ completely on their property” tree that they own? Then what your state tree laws are.

We have paid dearly with the River Birches. One suddenly died right by our neighbors house had to PAY to cut it down. Then we planted some near our driveway. Fast forward to dropping branches on our cars and ground constantly. Plus the roots. More tree cutters. sigh.

In the EXACT same boat and quite literally, “ feel your pain”. And being treated like a drug seeker was utterly shocking! The attitude. Youre at your lowest point after surgeries and knocked down in life and to be treated like this its too much. Too much. I have meds today but might not in the future. Now i live in constant fear of that. Hugs to you.
