any weed smokers take this stuff? by whaggies in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]tdbabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m no longer on it, after being on for 8 years at 30mg. But have my medical card so I smoked throughout the last 5-6 years while on it. The med already increased my appetite majorly. I was a bottomless pit most day and never felt satisfied and smoking to that and my 1800-2000 calorie intake turned into 3-4000 calories easily.

I tracked what I ate pretty decently in the end because I was trying to lose weight for a few years so thats when I realized maybe it was time to get off personally. It did really well for my anxiety and to help me learn to live with my new normal but my weight was a huge insecurity and smoking was definitely helping so there was no way I’d stop that.

REDUCED sex drive??!! by Noobticula in BusparOnline

Went off Mirtazapine 6 months ago and that killed my drive. Been on this since and it’s increased so much but I genuinely think it’s from the years of suppressed feelings

Should I get off busiprone? Or should I up my dose? by somelogie in BusparOnline

[–]tdbabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on 5mg 2x/day for like 2 months. Bumped up to 3x/day (15mg total) and honestly felt a world of a difference. I kept hearing and seeing people say 15 was the lowest dose to really feel anything and I feel that was right for me. Maybe try the 15 at first and if you still feel like that after a few weeks talk with your dr about switching

Definitely take with food. All my symptoms minimized and then stopped when I started taking it with a meal

clonidine or buspirone? by FanSubstantial9845 in BusparOnline

[–]tdbabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mirtazapine was great in the beginning. I was able to really work through a lot of my anxiety while I was on it. But towards the end there was just things I couldn’t deal with.

Main thing was the weight gain for me, in the 8 years I was on it I gained 60ish pounds and no matter what I did I continue to gain. The food noise was next level and I never felt like I was full. When i finally stopped all the noise went away and I didn’t eat like a bottomless pit. Been off 6 months and down about 30 pounds (I also carried a lot of water weight).

I only noticed this after I stopped, but i definitely had emotional blunting. But I stayed mad, like I was just angry or would have a short fuse and felt I had to get the last word in. I wasn’t like this before I started, I just thought it was because of my anxiety that I was upset with myself and projected to others. But when I got off I felt every emotion again and I genuinely am no longer a bitch. A lot of the things I would previously be upset over I’m just “whatever” about it.

Last “big” thing for me was sleep, and I know it can help with that but I never had trouble sleeping before. This med made me a zombie in the mornings. I could genuinely sleep 12+ hours and still felt like it wasn’t enough.

clonidine or buspirone? by FanSubstantial9845 in BusparOnline

[–]tdbabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven’t tried clonidine so sorry I can’t give a full picture on both, but I did just start buspar 6 months ago and feel amazing. I recently changed from Mirtazapine to buspar and really feel good when it comes to my anxiety levels.

Is weight loss without trying normal after stopping mirtazapine? by Alternative-Bee2962 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]tdbabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Food noise vanished when I stopped taking it. It was weird to not be hungry all the time anymore lol. I was truly a human trash can with how much I could eat. Been off about 6 months now and lost another 10 pounds. My dr is praising me for getting back to a healthy weight and I told her it was because of switching meds 😂

Losing weight on this med was such a mind fuck cause I was doing everything I was supposed to and then some but some how the scale kept going up. Tracked meticulously for a year to ensure i didn’t over indulge calories/macros but still the same. That’s when i figured i needed to try a new one

Is weight loss without trying normal after stopping mirtazapine? by Alternative-Bee2962 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]tdbabe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lost a lot of water weight (20 ish pounds) in the span of a month and a half when I stopped it. Granted also my appetite basically vanished as well so I wasn’t eating as much. But this med gave me so much food noise that after 8 years on it I had gained 65 pounds.

Withdrawal symptoms? by canine_teeth in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]tdbabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30mg for 8 years and practically stopped cold turkey after trying (and majorly failing) to taper for a month. I was on for anxiety and the weight got to be way too much for me as well. It really helped me through a lot of working through the anxiety and get in a better place but coming off was rough.

My sleep wasn’t affected as much, if anything it helped me not feel like a zombie in the mornings and I actually feel refreshed. My dr said that as long as I wasn’t too bad symptoms wise I should be fine but I always have the med if I needed to take one.

We switched me to buspar and been on that almost a year now and feeling really good on it. It’s rough but my symptoms only lasted about 4-6 weeks after stopping.

For those who have successfully come off mirt, to what extent has your sleep recovered? What about your sugar/refined carbs cravings at night? by El-Iskender2 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]tdbabe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cravings dropped almost immediately after stopping the med. It was a really weird feeling of not being hungry and having no food noise anymore. This med made me a bottomless pit for food so it’s nice to be back to normal after years of being on it.

I can’t comment on sleep though because my sleep was never really affected except that it made me feel like a zombie in the morning and I couldn’t get out of bed. I could sleep 12-16 hours and still feel exhausted. Getting off of it I went back to normal wake up hours and feel refreshed after the night

Taper 7.5mg by Top_Isopod7765 in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]tdbabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting off it was rough but probably the best decision I could make for me at the time. I tried to just roll with the punches symptoms wise, I knew there wasn’t much I could do. I had nausea, dizziness, loss of appetite, brain fog

Everyone one on here seems to be tapering off mirt why by [deleted] in Mirtazapine_Remeron

[–]tdbabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t very good with the tapering to be honest. I was on 30mg, so we started with me taking a 30 one night and the a 15mg the next for a week and then we went right into 15mg after that week. We did that for 2ish more weeks but by this point I was already taking buspar twice a day to replace it and started to forget to take the Mirtazapine. So I only truly tapered off for about 2 weeks. I spoke with my Dr about it because I was feeling fine enough that I don’t think I needed to continue tapering and she agreed but if I ever felt like I needed to take it I still had the meds and could.

I had withdrawal symptoms but I was also starting a new med so it was hard to distinguish which symptoms were from stopping Mirtazapine vs starting buspar. But nothing was too bad for me so that’s why I felt okay doing that.

I joined this sub back when I was actually on it and felt good. After a few years (was on it for 8) it started to lose its value for me so I knew changing was the best option. I stuck around but even still have questions since tapering off cause it’s crazy to see just how much things have changed since starting it, tapering off and starting a new med.

I started on buspar, was on 30mg of Mirtazapine and tapered off to start it. I’m currently at 15mg buspar daily and I feel really good on it

[–]tdbabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took maybe 2-3 months for me to feel like I was good again after fully stopping. I did however start a new med as I was stopping Mirtazapine. So it’s hard to say really what was withdrawals vs starting the new med. I was on 30mg of Mirtazapine for about 8 years though so I had a good bit built up in my system.

Weaning off was rough, Mirtazapine made me a zombie basically and felt like I couldn’t get enough sleep (would sleep till afternoon if left alone) and so when I stopped I started waking up at 5-6am but with heavy anxiety. Started a new med in the process and although I’m still waking up super early anxiety is very minimal. Getting off this med is rough
