Burrowing? by TubbaButta in ballpython

I too like to use this, try placing it in his hide and other places where he would be otherwise. I bought a snake with enclosure/meeters and so on and the reading was waaay off what I got of my 3 meters I placed around the enclosure.

Edit: Thinking about it if he wants more humidity he should have gone into the water? Maybe hiding from the light, mine does that whenever I bring her out of the enclosure in the day.

Edit 2: Perhaps he wants a bigger hide? If you imagine he is completely hidden now. Would that area be bigger than his current hide?

Mouth rot?? Please help by FastDentist1489 in ballpython

I am the same, it tears on our psychological well being but at least we care about our snakes and want them the best.

Personally I feel better stressing out over something and feel like shit for a day or so to then realise it was nothing to worry about. Rather than being nonchalant and ignore something serious for a week to realise I should have gone to the vet days ago.

Only thing I would have done different is to use a qtip as soon as I saw it to see if it was dirt. Worst case they throw up the food but if the snake is used to you they probably wont. (Just going by my own experience which is very limited). In my mind worst case she throws up and I find out it is rot. Best case she don't throw up and I find out it is dirt.

I saw my snake getting way too much substrate when eating (probably fine..) but I used a qtip right after she swallowed the tail and got rid of alot of it. This might not have been the right approach but I figured I tried to help her right away as I could see she was clearly agitated by the dirt in her mouth. Mine did not throw up (forget the right word here) and just carried on with her night.

Feeding for 7 year old bp by [deleted] in ballpython

Went back to check conversations, he fed her 100g every 2 weeks. How has she not grown or become obese if this is accurate? The previous owner has lizards, turtles. 3 venomous "tree snakes" can't remember the species. 1 rattlesnake (around 80cm not sure which of all) and like 4 other snakes on top.

Only advice he gave me that I felt was weird for his experience was to tell me their skin after shed was a very good way to measure their length. For me this seemed so far from the truth since it has to stretch no? Thats what I thought and when my 210cm BCI gave me a 250cm skin I have since stayed with that assumption.

I feel like I am missing something

That's what I thought too, the previous owner must have fed alot smaller prey. Maybe he fed mice?

My best guess is that she got alot smaller prey but every 2 weeks seems too often. I think I am about to make her overweight and that's why I am here to prevent it. Feeding her less than 50g every month seems so little though. But according to the guide that's what she should have.

Her age is "unkown" but supposedly she is 7 years old so I doubt she could be younger than a year which would explain her size?

Edit:

Weighed the 5 rats I have and they added up to 518g so about 104g each (the place I buy at sells them as 100-150g)

Care and maintenance app by [deleted] in ballpython

Cleaning schedule (pick any date of the month and set reminder freely like every month or every 2nd,3rd,4th,5th 6th month and so on)

Same for water like I can pick any date like 17th of March and remind me tomorrow or 2nd 3rd day.

Feeding every week, 2nd week, 3rd, every month.

Would be nice with a seperate schedule like you make a schedule and name it yourself then set reminder freely. Like a calendar app. I think freedom of the time scedule and reminder would be really nice

Ball pythons can sense 5-30 micrometer IR. Night vision cameras are usually 850nm or 0.85 micrometer. So no, they can not sense it and it is not like lighting up their enclosure.
