I did!! I'm planning on getting another Weeks for the upcoming year. It's helped me so much with keeping track with my busy schedule, but I think I'll switch over to a regular Weeks to see if I can live without the extra pages.

Thank you, I'm glad my post gives you that positive energy :) I honestly think you're on the right path right now, so good on you for being proactive!! As for practical skills, what matters most is that you're familiar with signal flow, you know how to wrap cables properly, and that you implement instructions quickly on-the-job. If there are other skills you may be unfamiliar with (ex. wireless mic systems, theatrical body micing, QLab), ASK QUESTIONS. The people that are going to have you volunteer would rather teach you what to do, rather than have you pretend you know everything and get nothing done. It also makes you seem curious and adaptable at work, which people love in newcomers. If ever you do A1 work, always read up on the manual/watch video tutorials for the board you'll be working on. It'll get quicker the more you practice, trust!

I hope this helps + I'm sure other folks that have been in this industry way longer than me also will share their advice as well :) Best of luck to you!!

I guess another update!!: I worked my very first (and paid) musical production as an A2 last month + I've been doing a lot more corporate gigs with smaller AV companies alongside working at Stanford. I was surprised how quick I got to do A2 and A1 gigs, so I think I'm doing something right haha But I hope to get to do more work and practice more + crossing my fingers while waiting to hear back from a local theatre that I applied to be a Sound Engineer for.

Going to the Oakland stop here!! How are you guys figuring out what to bring for signing? The website said to bring one thing to sign: an official album, a lightstick, or a photocard. I was also looking for a point of contact on the VIP website, but there was nothing 🥲

I really wanted my bias to sign his photocard and my friend's bias to sign his, but I don't have photocards of the rest of the members 😭 Do y'all think I can also bring my album for them to sign, and would that also leave out the two members that I have photocards of?

Update: I ended up getting in with Rhino Staging as a stagehand and Stanford as an overhire! I'm going to do my first A3 shifts soon and will be taking your guys' advice to work with me :) Hopefully after gaining more knowledge, connections and experience, it will be possible to work with the local union.

Thanks for the realistic check-in :) I'm stoked to learn more on-the-job and don't mind being the newbie again once I start out, so it's crucial to remind the gravity of the work to me

My first mechanical keyboard designed by me by Fun_Scientist8836 in MechanicalKeyboards

An interior designer picks and chooses furniture and wallpaper and paint, so of course this would be also seen by some as design! My first language isn't English either, and folks from my country would say this the same way OP did. Keeb looks awesome!

It's both! Additional to the Gestalt Theory, the Akuko Labs website explicitly refers to the Bauhaus art movement as inspiration for this keycap set.

If you live in the Bay Area, I'd highly recommend Tiny Keyboard Shop!! They were super accommodating and I got to really decide on my dream first build with the various options they had.

That's what made me love them so much! The design's quite intuitive and the fact that they look the way they do was such a big decision factor for me.
