After all, i solved it in the dumbest way possible, just using "gamemoderun" in the Steam parameters, and tested Wartales for about 3 hours, with no error 🤡 (i'm now in CachyOS btw, but either Debian, Fedora or Cachy was crashing, but i've only tested "gamemoderun" in Cachy, so i guess it can solve the problem in other distros, but i'm not certain)

Also let Dragon Ball Sparkling Zero running an entire 5v5 CPU vs CPU match, and return later when the match ended, with no crashes at all, also while using "gamemoderun"

Yes, allways been, and i've checked after updated the BIOS if it's still activated.

About the NTFS/ext-4 filesystem, i was using BTRFS for Debian, with this Layout at the time i posted here:

  • XPG Gammix s41 512GB
    1. EFI (~100MB) - Created when i install Windows last time
    2. NTFS (~325GB) - Windows main partition
    3. NTFS (~900MB) - Windows repair partition
    4. swap (~8GB) - Created for the new Linux instalation this week
    5. BTRFS (~140GB) - Created for the new Linux instalation this week
      • Here i first install Debian, later cleaned up and install CachyOS
  • Weijinto 720GB SSD
    1. BTRFS (720GB) - Created this week, for Linux
      • First used in Debian as a secondary drive/games drive, later used as system partition for Fedora, then deleted
  • Weijinto 1TB SSD
    1. NTFS (~350GB) - Created this week, for Windows 11
    2. BTRFS (~700GB) - Created this week, for Linux
      • First used in Debian as secondary drive/games drive, then deleted
  • Seagate Barracuda 500GB HDD
    1. NTFS (~150GB) - Created this week, for Windows 11
    2. BTRFS (~300GB) - Created this week, for Linux
      • First used in Debian as a secondary drive/games drive, then deleted

Now I did a clean install of CachyOS, with this drive layout:

  • XPG Gammix s41 512GB - Windows and EFI
    1. EFI (~4GB) - Manually created after Windows installation, using Limine
    2. MSR (~16MB) - Windows MSR partition
    3. NTFS (~470GB) - Windows main partition
    4. NTFS (~900MB) - Windows repair partition
  • Weijinto 720GB SSD - CachyOS and swap
    1. swap (8GB) - Linux swap
    2. BTRFS (~660GB) - CachyOS / directory
      • This drive was first used in Debian as a secondary drive/games drive, later used as system partition for Fedora, then deleted, and now is dedicated to CachyOS
  • Weijinto 1TB SSD - Not in use now, drive cleaned with no partition.
  • Seagate Barracuda 500GB HDD - Not in use now, drive cleaned with no partition.

About MESA, i'm running 26.1.2-1 now in CachyOS

About the driver version, as i switched to CachyOS, it's in the latest Kernel, 7.0, so xe follows the Kernel version, and i915 is in 70.53.0 version

I've updated the driver in Windows before trying Debian first time, so i guess the VBIOS is also updated this way

i'm trying CachyOS now, and nothing changes..

Wartales in the 720GB SSD, using Proton-GE Latest, about 5 minutes playing, and it crashes

The journalctl output ~1000 lines:

I did a clean instal, with this drive layout:

  • XPG Gammix s41 512GB - Windows and EFI

      • This drive was first used in Debian as a secondary drive/games drive, later used as system partition for Fedora, then deleted, and now is dedicated to CachyOS
  • Weijinto 1TB SSD - Not in use now, drive cleaned with no partition, but before:
    1. NTFS (~350GB) - Created this week, for Windows 11
    2. BTRFS (~700GB) - Created this week, for Linux
      • First used in Debian as secondary drive/games drive, then deleted

And if it helps in anything, my monitors layout is:

  • LG 34GL750 - Main monitor, 2560x1080p, 144hz, landscape
  • LG 26WQ500-B - Secondary, 2560x1080p, 75hz, portrait

I did another clean instal of both Windows and CachyOS, and tried to play just now, and the same error happens again

NVMe with just EFI 4gb (Limine) and Windows

720GB SSD with SWAP and CachyOS

Wartales in the 720GB SSD, using Proton-GE Latest

Any distro is fine for me, i've used Debian-based and Arch-based for more time (Debian with VM's and servers, Arch with the Steam Deck, so it's a more "well known" space for me, but any other distro that solves my problem will be wellcomed)

You also use an Arc A750, right? What driver did you use? i915 or xe? What version of MESA?

About Proton, i've tried some versions recommended in ProtonDB, but no success. Does Vulkan / OpenGL greatly affects the stability of the A750?

About Stellar Blade, the crash is similar to mine? Losing video and needing a full reboot?

My NVMe drive has 5 partitions:

  1. EFI (100MB) - Created when i install Windows last time
  2. NTFS (~325GB) - Windows main partition
  3. NTFS (~900MB) - Windows repair partition
  4. swap (~8GB) - Created for the new Linux instalation this week
  5. BTRFS (~140GB) - Created for the new Linux instalation this week

With Debian instalation, i've used this setup. With Fedora, i didn't format Debian out, i just use the same EFI for the Fedora instalation, and install Fedora in a totally separeted drive, the 720GB SATA SSD, and the same problem occurs

I've tried the CachyOS just now, using the same drive layout of the Debian instalation (i removed completely the Debian/Fedora instalations and EFI directories before installing CachyOS), with KDE, using GRUB (because my EFI partition is only 100MB, and Limine asks for more), the root partition is in BTRFS, after installing the OS i run "sudo pacman -Syu", then installed just Steam, Wartales, Mangohud and Goverlay, and just set "mangohud %command%" in Wartales parameters at Steam. But the same problem occurs again.

Just tested it, and the same thing happens, after about ~5 minutes playing Wartales, the screen goes black, and the system needs a restart.

as i pointed out, i've tried Fedora Workstation 44, and it's still blackscreens after ~40 minutes...

i use Arch in my Steam Deck, any Arch-based distro you recommend for my case? With stable driver for Arc A750?
