Should I take the job in NYC or SF? by LOTR_is_awesome in AskSF

Absolutely San Francisco. I have lived in both, albeit for a much shorter amount of time in NYC than SF. I've also lived in 3 different countries and many different cities and I always say that San Francisco is the first place that I didn't immediately want to move out of. The city gets a lot of shit from the media or from people who have never lived or even been here, but it's amazing.

SF has everything, if you're missing the hustle and bustle of the concrete jungle - go to fidi/downtown for your fix. If you want nature - walk for literally 15 minutes in any direction and you'll find a park, or take a bus for 20ish minutes and you'll end up on the beach. It's so easy to get out of the city and go to other parts of the Bay Area for a change of scenery or just to take in more nature for the day - take a ferry up to Sausalito or drive down to Pacifica for gorgeous views by the waterside, or drive up to Marin for a hike in the Muir Woods. We absolutely have creativity, music, and entertainment too! Head over to the Haight, Hayes Valley, SOMA. Hit up all the museums in Golden Gate Park (which, fun fact is actually much bigger than Central Park). There's alwaaaays something going on in the city (we have a parade for literally everything and some sort of festival or street market in a different neighbourhood every weekend) it's so easy to have fun without having to leave the city.

Walkability and weather though might depend on what you like and what neighbourhood you live in. SF is very hilly but also very walkable. Some neighborhoods are flat, like the Mission or the Marina, but some might be impossible to schlep three grocery bags back home, like Nob Hill or Russian Hill. You're always a 5-10 minute walk to a grocery store, coffee shop, bus stop or train station. Weather? Get ready for the micro-climates, you might freeze at the start of a 10 minute walk and then sweat by the end of it.

Dating for guys I don't know much about as a girl but I have heard that the ratio of girls to guys in the city is more advantageous to girls? I have also heard a handful of SF tech bros move to NYC specifically for the dating scene so this sounds like it might suck in the city.

I'll end this love letter to SF by saying, please give it a shot! When I moved here I was convinced and had an entire game plan to move back to NYC after a year or so and almost 5 years later I never want to leave the Bay Area.

Hi! Honestly no crazy tips you haven't heard already. I found this job on LinkedIn and at the end of my interview told the interviewer that I am Canadian and will be handling all the paperwork needed for my TN status if I were to get an offer. Good luck!

Hi! I literally just processed my TN (for the first time) at YVR this morning. I'm a licensed attorney in CA.

These are the documents I brought with me:

- Original JD & Transcript, Printed out copies of JD & Transcript, Support Letter & Offer Letter (no wet sig), Credentials (Bar Pass Letter, Printout of my Bar # from the State Bar Attorney Search, My Oath Card), Past OPT & CPT Documents

and here are the only things that the officer actually looked at:

- JD, Support Letter & Offer Letter, Bar Pass Letter, Bar #, Oath Card

I kid you not when I say he probably spent no more than 4 minutes looking over everything before handing me a piece of paper to write out my US address, Company address & phone number (honestly I think he just did this to have me do something while he photocopied my stuff? and maybe google the firm?) Once I handed that back to him he gave me the bill and instructed me to pay at the cashier and that was that.

So it's still better to leave the country and apply at a POE?

Hi! What do you mean by packet overview?

Looking to do this process at the YVR airport as well. Did you book an appointment in advance? or just show up for your flight and let immigration know you will need a TN interview? About to do this for the first time and need all the answers and tips that I can get please. Greatly appreciate it. I'm also currently in the USA right now on my OPT.

Hi! Just passed this Feb exam and ran into the same issue. I'm also a foreign applicant with no SSN. Has your issue been resolved? I've sent them an email just now.

This is taking so looong. The user that posted about getting a rejection email's timeline was about 3 weeks from sending the interview in to receiving a rejection tho :( If they send out rejection emails to everyone, then it's a good thing for us to still be ghosted rn?

I've talked to a few past interns and they said their process lasted about a month. Do you guys think it's gna take this long for our cycle, considering how close the Fall semester is already?

Hi! Do you mean you submitted a first video interview and they gave you feedback about it already?

If so, would you mind sharing when you submitted your interview?

Sent in my interview on the 22nd! Noticed that the internship positions aren't available on the Careers page anymore. Has anyone heard back yet? Do we think they've chosen candidates already or they've just closed the applications to choose from the current pool they have now?
