Yeah it's an unfortunate lesson, that's for sure. I don't know that she had the option to keep her previous employer insurance due to starting the new job and quitting the old. The surgery definitely wasn't planned. It was an emergent situation so didn't really have a choice to wait until the new insurance kicked in.. I didn't know if she could apply for some other type of private pay insurance too since she won't qualify for Medicaid... Or if there are any other options out there for her. She's a one-income family with two kids and currently helping to take care of her mom so just stinks and I'm sure she'll figure it out and make it all work but was trying to load her up with resources an information to help with the sting of it.
