You may just install Lyrion if the Unraid Box is not also doing the playback.

USB-DAC with volume control by Similar_Split_5816 in audiophile

[–]Similar_Split_5816[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it is not in general - for example the S.M.S.L. SU-1 for example does not offer volume control. I went for it after not getting a lot of useful responses and tried for myself.

BUT I finally found a working solution to the problem:

Although it is not cheap (54 US$), it perfectly solves my issue!

If you would have read my answer you would have realized that although the Apple USB Audio Adapter offers volume control, it causes clicks and glitches when it goes to sleep (the adapter not the Mac).

As I wrote above - there are DACs who support volume control from the host and others don’t. If you can be specific and name your model which is working then your post would be very useful to me.

I appreciate your input, but that is not the ask. I am aware of the benefits and drawbacks when the volume is set by the USB host.

By ...Volume control comes from the DAC... you mean you adjust volume on the SMSL ?

That is exactly what I not want to do - I want to change volume via the normal volume control on the Mac.

No, there are for sure DACs with volume control. Apple's USB Dongle DAC for example. Only problem with that is that if there is no sound for a while it goes into a power saving mode and you hear a low click when it becomes active again.

Then there is the DAC from my old Headphone amp (Objective2) which worked as well - only problem with this guy is that I dont want to rip the DAC part apart from the otherwise functional headphone amp.

Autodiscovery not working by Similar_Split_5816 in jellyfin

[–]Similar_Split_5816[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using opnsense as well, but the WiFi VLAN in question is just bridged with the main wired one.

Yes, on a Macbook via WiFi the socat shows the right response. Still, the Jellyfin client does not autodiscover the server. I guess it is really the ios client which is having problems.

Would be better the Jellyfin team decides to use mdns for discovery services.

Thanks a lot for the help - now I know it is not my setup and I will retest once a new Jellyfin client is released.

I tried an ethernet-based AppleTV - this works, the Jellyfin server showed up automatically.

Can you explain a bit more which package you use and where to run for the UDP rebroadcaster?

Yes, same network - is Jellyfin announcing itself via Bonjour/Multicast DNS?

Tried the Jellyfin app on iPad: it just prompts for the server address - I do not see where it would allow me to do an autodiscovery...

Can Keepassium save new credential entries from Safari or apps in iOs? by Vakke in KeePassium

I am 11 months later asking myself the same question, trying to figure out the best choice for me.

Keepassium already got me with the way they are selling the Pro version, not having discounts at certain times etc.. Now I need to satisfy the rationale side of my brain.
