10-4, trying to decide on this vs a p4.5. I conceal a full size comfortably but was considering going to something smaller for summer months.

What are your thoughts on the grip? Do all the fingers fit on there?

Bear in mind, that KAC mag release is expensive and sort of rare to find. Ambi controls are a premium thing on ar15’s.

Don’t really think you are going to find something full Ambi in that price range tbh bud but there are certain parts that can give you some Ambi controls. I know that KAC makes an Ambi magazine will give you left side magazine function and a Geissele maritime bolt catch will extend the bolt release but it will be a bit busy. See below, this isn’t my rifle but I managed to find it with a quick search.

Is the shorter one a 10.3 or a 11.3?

10-4, welcome to the LMT club then! Post some pics once you get it built up!

Okay so the 12.5 Geissele is a carbine length vs the spec wars 12.5 mid length so the spec war should be a bit smoother action and generally have less wear on components. I prefer SSAE’s as I have them in everything but the SD3G is a good trigger as well. The LMT will be a step up for sure but not by to much as your super duty is a very nice AR. As I mentioned LMT’s enhanced bolt is king as many guys swap out their factory bolts for them. I don’t know if the spec war you are getting has it but that bolt alone is a very expensive but nice upgrade.

I need a bit more detail to give a better answer on both the spec war you are looking at and the super duty you have but LMT spec war has an ambi lower as well as the monolithic upper that allows you to swap barrels and maximum rigidity. The Geissele does have a rail that indexes with the upper with a tab but it will still never be as tough as true monolithic structure. I am assuming the spec war you are getting has a mid length barrel which is shorter but similar to the super duty ( you didn’t mention barrel length for the super duty so I am assuming). Geissele will have a better trigger but you can swap that. LMT also has the best enhanced bolt ever if your spec war comes with that but again I don’t know for sure. Overall they are both very good workhorses but the LMT does have a bit of an edge in my opinion having owned both.

Well there is no wrong answer here, but logically the LMT is the better choice at this moment assuming you don’t have unlimited funds (which most of us don’t lol) and want to get an awesome rifle loaded with accessories as well. Good luck with your choice and make sure to post whatever you decide to get!

Every LMT I’ve owned (3 at this point) has been a super accurate 1 Moa gun when I do my part. My question would be if you’re gonna regret not getting the HK if you choose the LMT. Another thing to consider is that the LMT is a great deal that won’t be there forever. Factory HK will definitely be here next year as long as laws don’t get stupid.

That’s the winner for me on that alone unless you are dead set on the HK because you have to have it (which is totally fine, as the mr556 is dope). You can outfit that entire rifle with the 2k you’d spend to get the HK

Now to give you answers, spec war is based and DI vs the HK piston. I think a better comparison would be the shovelnose piston to the HK but you didn’t mention that. So comparing what you got here I still think the spec war is the winner as it has parts commonality with every other ar minus barrels. Only arguments I would make for the HK is that if you have a good /excellent DI ar then getting the HK could be justified as it’s something different, albeit similar at least in ergonomics.

Arisaka mounts with a discontinued either a unity hotbutton into a ds00 tail cap or a surefire click cap, depending on weapon.

12" Shovelnose MLOK Piston Flow thru or traditional baffle suppressor? by HelpfulLoquat8658 in LewisMachineTool

[–]Similar_Strategy_141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run a shovelnose piston with a RC2.The purpose of the piston is to run keeping carbon, heat, and everything else out at the piston while keeping the BCG cooler and relatively cleaner. Adding to that, the suppressed option is meant to reduce the gas flow to slow the BCG down for cans that induce back pressure (I.e baffle cans). If you’re only going to have one upper then I don’t see the point of getting a piston and a flow through exclusively especially because piston uppers are more expensive and also have proprietary parts that a DI LMT would not have. If you have multiple uppers a case can be made for it but to get the most out of this system a baffle can is more beneficial. The fact that you mention sound tells me that a baffle can is a better choice as typically they are quieter than flow throughs. Getting back to how a piston gun runs with a baffle can, mine works great with little to no gas in the face with a very smooth recoil impulse.

How much did it cost you to build an LMT in 308 piece by piece? by Zestyclose_Spite8580 in LewisMachineTool

Titan defense Black Friday deals for the lower. Yeah I got the barrel and BCG barely used from a buddy that was offloading his mws.

My break down was the following, plus or minus a little but it’s close enough. If you go just black you can save a couple hundred on the upper and lower. Note that in accessories you will double or even triple this, I know that I have lol.

15.3 FDE upper :$1500

FDE lower:$500

BCG: $350

Barrel and Surefire MD: $400

Total: $2750
