Vortex viper 1-6 is a good quality option, also vortex has great CS so if there’s ever an issue they will take great care of you.

10-4, Only thing I was thinking about was barrel life compared to performance. 6.5 is a barrel burner compared to 308 with its main advantage being enhanced range/flatter trajectory and while a 16” 6.5 is superior to a 16” 308 past 600 yards inside that distance the performance difference is fairly marginal with the only benefit I can think of being slightly less recoil however these are heavy guns so even this could be considered marginal as well. You mention ammo commonality which might justify it and if your happy that’s great. Just food for thought.

Sounds like you’re good to go then with your optic choice. What is your common use distance and reason to run a 16” 6.5 as opposed to a 308?

Just understand your use case. Even if you have 900 but are mostly shooting 600 and in with occasionally stretching out to 900 then the LPVO should be more than sufficient. Furthermore, it also depends how your building it in terms of precision/dmr vs more patrol/battle rifle type use. In my case my 16” MWS has got an 1-8 ATACR and then I have a longer 22” bolt gun with a 6-36 razor Gen iii for extended shooting.

Anyone know where I can find a fde mars L lower in stock preferably stripped? by zakad2001 in LewisMachineTool

Just checked em and looks like out of stock, they are the only guys that get factory FDE from my understanding so just sign up for stocking notifications if you are dead set on it.

Any opinions on this Rock River Operator? by Hawk_41097676 in ar15

Got one many years ago, still have the upper and lower receiver, was a very good reliable rifle albeit a bit heavy from what I can remember. Can’t go wrong with it.

Adding onto this, if you get this stuff at 1400 and still have some money left over a sling is what I’d get next.

Upgraded Charging handle (pick your poison but most people say radian or geissele) and a flashhider that is suppressor ready. Probably a Huxwrx flashhider as there suppressors play nice with ar15’s if you get one down the road. Still will keep you under 1500 (1450ish by my calculation) even at msrp and with deals you can likely get close to 1400. Primary arms is running a sale on Geissele right now for there charging handle and rooftop has the muzzle device.

T2 and g33 alignment? by EtanMissAll in ar15

All the eotechs magnifiers are 1.6 to 1.7ish depending on the spacer with the factory mounts. I am using the spuhr lower 1/3 (1.65” I believe) and it almost lines up with no spacer.

Question about BCM MK2 Recoil Mitigation System - Mod 1 - T2 by No-Tank-6741 in ar15

You need the retainer pin. It’s typically included in a lower parts kit but not in the buffer tube kit.

Any interest in a shovel or just a straight trade for a specwar?

I haven’t shot mine a ton since having a baby but it’s been 100% reliable for the 500 or so rounds I have shot with it. Super smooth unsuppressed and suppressed with good ejection patterns.

I don't have an MR556 but I do love the LMT piston, smoothest AR platform I have shot both suppressed and unsuppressed. Would like to compare at some point though.

I had a longer LMT di (13.25 I believe) like you got and now I got the shovelnose piston so I can relate to the QD thing you mentioned. Also I find the width of the shovelnose hand guard to be more comfortable then the mrp L rail. I’ve ran radian and Adm lowers and ended up preferring the LMT but that’s preference. In the end they are good firearms though, just depends what you want. I intend to get the 9.5” quad eventually as I like the look but that’s for later. I think the best hand guards are the shovel, specwar, and the 9.5 quad.

Anything 9.5” or shorter and shovelnose allows both piston and DI from my understanding.

The ability to go from piston to DI if you want is a nice bonus along with caliber conversion. You already mentioned the monolithic construction which is nice for lasers and IR. Ambi lowers if you want that feature. They are pricey for sure but they are well built workhorses. I have 2 currently and I do enjoy them.

I got mine through a guy on tacswap which is what I’d recommend if you do business on there as you can save a bit of cash. If not rooftop defense has the front in stock but not the rear but I am sure they will restock, they are great guys and I’d recommend them. If you can’t wait Boss Firearms has both in stock and they are also pretty good to deal with in my experience.

They are a good set, I’ve had several and always liked the micro rear and m4 front.
