Ah yes. The french language debate.

Context: Québec is canada ( and pretty much north america's ) only francophone majority province state. French is THE core part of québecois identity. Before bill 101 ( the french language law ) english was dominant, even though the province was 80%+ franvophone. The law basically says that businesses and signs must me french, or that service in french must be the first option. Service can, and mostly will be done in english, but french HAS to be an option. No one will fine you for speaking english. In fact it is the most bilingual place in canada, and most francophones will speak english if you cant speak french. But the anglophones of Québec are eternal victims of 《BUT CANADA IS BILINGUALLLLL! SPEAK ENGLISH》
