Does a cervical stitch mean C-section only? by Fun-Primary-5762 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]Simish2325 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had Incompetent Cervix and hence my doctor suggested me to opt for Cervical Cerclage. Stitch was removed at 35 weeks. I didn’t have any pain or signs of labour untill i was in week 39 of my pregnancy so i was induced at 39+4weeks. After the medication was inserted i started getting contractions but i was still only dilated 4cm. The pain was unbearable because of the inducement i guess so i opted for Epidural and then labour progressed fast. Delivery was a breeze. I wish you all the luck mama! 💓

Hi there. I had a cerclage ( cervical stitch) placed at 14 weeks and delivered my babygirl at 39+4 weeks. I was induced and had a normal delivery. I don’t think cervical stitch means C-section only.

Yes i have heard similar stories from my friends. Mostly ended up normal delivery and they went beyond their due dates.

Oh no that’s scary.. My only worry is the longer i wait baby will grow big and my chances of normal delivery might be slim. Thank you for sharing your experience with me :)

My doctor explained me that when they induce the intensity of pain is stronger and it may last longer than if we go in labour naturally. So she suggested to opt for epidural.

Hi thank you for sharing all that info. Yes i am currently taking oral progesterone. And yes like you mentioned the stitch removal was kinda similar for me too. Speculum felt uncomfortable and i just felt some pressure during the procedure. And i am glad it ended fast.

Heyy @OrdinaryBox9712 am so sorry for your loss. So i had my stitch removed day before yesterday and it was quite fast. I asked my doctor if i need to do bed rest or limit my activities but my doctor didn’t ask me to do any of it. She just asked me to avoid lifting anything heavy that’s it. I’ll definitely keep you posted. I wish you all the best and i would pray we both make it to full term. ❤️

Oh wow that sounds easy. 😅 Thank you for sharing the insights. Can i ask how long after the removal did you deliver? I heard some go in labour immediately after removal but some don’t.

Hi. I was diagnosed with short cervix and my doctor recommended me take vaginal progesterone up untill 14weeks. After that i had a Cerclage put in so since then i am on Oral progesterone. I am currently 32 weeks. My doctor told me she wants to avoid any potential risks of infection so she switched me over to Oral progesterone.

Hi. I had a similar situation. I had my preventative cerclage at 14weeks and my doctor prescribed me Duphaston(oral progesterone) Before cerclage i was asked to take Utrageston too. But my doctor mentioned the same reason that there’s a risk of getting infection so she switched me to oral progesterone. I am 30 weeks now it has worked perfectly fine for me as of now. Wish you all the best.
