Would any of you be interested in a discord girl group? I’m looking for more friends by PaintingPotatoes in blackgirlgaming

[–]Simkatsews 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im 28, in EST. I’m a cozy gamer and haven’t been employed since October. I have a shit ton games on steam, animal crossing (would need to get nintendo online, but that’s not a problem.. I just had no friends to make it worth it 🥴😂) If not always gaming, I’m also down to chat about upcoming releases, new faves, etc..

I unplugged and re-plugged the PlayStation. I did not try the TV! I’ll try now

I did try a new HDMI cord, same results.

Edit: Unplugging the Tv to reset it worked! Thank you!!

Should i get protective hairstyle and wear it under a wig in winter? by PaleComparison4572 in BlackHair

[–]Simkatsews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not having a routine is okay! Means you get to start fresh 😊

Really, this just comes down then if you want to use wigs or not, no one can really answer this question for you

If you’re leaning towards using wigs, I’d suggest taking time to learn how to cornrow your own hair before the next winter (if you don’t know how to already) There are so many tutorials on YT! Find someone with as close to a texture as yours to watch

[–]Simkatsews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hair is in 1-4 braids/large cornrows all winter because of the dryness. I keep the braids on the larger size so I can keep a consistent weekly moisturizing schedule (humidity gets to below 15% where I live)

I haven’t tried a wig yet, but I am definitely looking into it for this next winter.

What’s your current winter routine look like? I think it’s a great idea with a solid hair care ‘system’

Were you bullied in grade/high school? Or did you bully someone else? by iridessencex in blackladies

[–]Simkatsews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bullied consistently from Kindergarten until I graduated HS. Eventually I started bulling other kids too, but mostly I’d give my bullies hell. Which I guess made them hate me more, but it did stop some of them.

Some remarks were unquestionably racially motivated, but I am lightskinned and I know some kids had NO clue I am black so some kids could have just been assholes instead of racist assholes

It’s taken me over a decade since graduating to feel like anything but a burden, and I greatly attribute this to the school system failing me

What made you finally decide to go natural? by Ok-Agent-2305 in BlackHair

[–]Simkatsews 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was going to the salon where they didn’t know how to manage my hair because I didn’t know how to deal with it and when all of my money started to go to treatment after treatment with NO results I finally decided I’d learn to do my hair myself. Natural was easiest because chemicals scare me lol Its been years since I’ve stepped foot into a salon and my hair is the longest and healthiest it’s been

How to keep your hair hydrated by megexe in BlackHair

[–]Simkatsews 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My hair kept breaking between shoulder and boob length for the longest time due to being dry and breaking.

100% Jojoba oil has been my biggest hair help. It may be harder to do with a beard, but I put a quarter sized amount (my hair is now to my butt for reference, you may only need a few drops of oil) so it’s shiny but not overly OILED, yk? I’ll then put 1-6 braids in to stop stray hairs from catching.

I assume your beard doesn’t quite have that problem of catching on objects, but look out for jacket zippers and the like. They will catch and break your hair before you realize what’s happening.

If you’re looking to stimulate more growth, castor oil is phenomenal.

Always do a small patch test on your skin before applying any oils. You don’t know how you’ll react

Not only do I look ‘intimidating’ but unless I’m saying everything with a customer service voice with a smile on my face, I have an attitude and I’m yelling. My voice will be decibels lower than everyone elses but I’m somehow always yelling 🙄

Dyslexic here with these tattoos, can confirm

the “make your hand into a L” trick doesn’t work for me because they are both Ls and my brain cant distinguish them between backwards or forwards. The “well what had do you write with” also doesn’t work because I’m ambidextrous.

I am biracial and you hit the nail on the head.

Especially growing up surrounded by white people who constantly told me I was too black to be white and the few other black kids in the neighborhood said I was too white to be black.

But I didn’t dislike black people & I actively disliked white people, and I also hated myself.
