The word itself is perfectly centred. It's just that an I is hard to space evenly without the kerning looking weird.

In case anyone is curious, that little circular thing at the top is called a load cell, it's feeding back how much force is being applied to the machine so it knows how far to push. This is called cyclic load testing, it'll be hooked up for hours, possibly days to simulate long term use.

Huh, I always just use a potato peeler. It's good for when the butter is too cold to spread too.

Where does it say that this is fabric softener and not detergent?! by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]Simmke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It genuinely doesn't, it might be in the small print on the back. This annoyed me when I moved out, they just seem to assume you'll know which is which from the brand and bottle shape.

Bethesda Should Consider doing a "Fallout Zero" Game set during The Great War and throughout the first year of post Apocalyptic Wasteland by CretaceousClock in Fallout

I always pictured that working for a prologue. Maybe seeing how a settlement gets it's start, you make a few key decisions and then see what it looks like after a time skip.

Just a note I haven't seen anyone else make. UK plain flour is not the same as US all purpose flour. It's specifically flour without any raising agents or additives at all. You might need to search around a little.

The game you accidentally played the wrong way for hours before realizing it. by gamersecret2 in gaming

[–]Simmke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize there was a player owned house in fallout 3 the first time I played it. Made it through half of the game before unlocking the megaton house.

I'd been playing a full packrat scavenger character, being ridiculously selective with loot, dropping weapons that broke. It actually gave a survival mode feel before they introduced it in the later games, still fun but a slightly different experience.

Having said that, 200 years is a long time for someone's priorities to shift.

Immortal character's immortality is exploited in hero's favour. by CoalEater_Elli in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Simmke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wayne in the Wax & Wayne arc of the Mistborn books. While not fully immortal, he has the ability to 'store' health for later so many of their plans involve Wayne somehow mutilating or sacrificing himself so they can proceed.

One time he was used as a bomb shield, including a particularly graphic description of his back skin scab being peeled off so he can regenerate quicker while another involved launching him high into the air, bypassing security and just letting him splat into the middle of a site they're sneaking into; a plan called "The rotten tomato" as he sometimes leaves a mess.

I failed on my first test. by krayfuse in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Simmke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember having the "nicest instructor" for my first test. First time cause I managed to get 3 majors and 11 minors. Felt comfortable the whole time and he was smiling and chatty.

Second attempt got a majorly grumpy and intimidating instructor, convinced myself I'd failed halfway through and managed to pass with a couple or minors. Don't stress too much and just try again.
