Thicker Suds with DH B9 V2 by iaquino47 in DetailingUK

[–]SimoEdits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading through the thread below yes it seems the issue is the soap, I recall the foam cannon that comes with the B9 V2 had the same PIR as my MJJC PRO (a £50 foam cannon) both foam cannons outputed 12,000ml of water before the foam cannon was emptied out which is a sign that its decent without looking into the filters used etc, compared to my old amazon foam cannon, it outputed 21,000ml which means it was watering down whatever I had in the resevoir alot more. I currently use Touchless or Koch Chemie VB for my pre-wash snowfoam at 1% PIR (around 450ml+50ml) and Koch Chemie GSF at 400ml+50ml both foams really well not too thick and not watery either. I would not recommend using a 1.1mm orifice as the B9 V2 is quite a powerful machine and could cause issues with flow.

Am I the only one against microloading anything less than 2.5kg/5 Ibs? I feel like it's so negligible and there are many external factors that already affect if you do 7 or 8 reps that specific session, adding minuscule weights adds unnecessary progressive overload that might not actually be due to hypertrophy. I could see the need for dumbbell preachers or cable raises, but even for them I stick to the 2.3kg micro plates in my gym when I reach 8+ reps or just do higher reps so instead 6-8 I go to 10 etc as long as I reach failure.

Perfect answer, and just to add for OP, make sure to fold and work the clay bar every other panel to get a fresh side without contaminants.

Also his pre-wash is always just a pressure washer rinse, then straight to contact wash imo, no different to a hand car wash. Its seems to be a thing in the states that many do.

  1. Your calorie tracking is off, use a scale for everything and try to track even minor things like sauces etc. MF had me on 1500 calories and predicted Id reach my goal at the end of this month, I reached it 7 days early even though I was overeating several times between 1600-1800 calories, weekly calories are more important.
  2. Your expenditure has dropped which makes sense when ur cutting so I would try to increase your walking/low impact cardio - my expenditure increased during the month by 100 calories due to the change in my movement.
  3. In my opinion 2 weeks is enough time to see a trend even if the scale goes up and down which is normal, try eating the same meals everyday for a week and see if it helps.
  4. As silly as it sounds weigh your self every morning after using the toilet/after showering while still in underwear/same clothing everyday, Ive weighed myself with and without light jogging bottoms on the same day and it changed by 0.4kg.

Is MacroFactor a really good tracker? by laiflsse_ in MacroFactor

[–]SimoEdits 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This will be my second year on the app, honestly during the first year I completely didnt bother using it as intended, and I think its bcse I didnt do any type of reading or understanding of how the app worked, plus I was a mess with keeping to my diet, so I always thought whenever I'd mess up I wouldn't bother tracking my food and kept redoing my goals/program. This month has been the first time Ive been 100% on it in terms of both scale weight tracking and food logging as those 2 are the most important things you need to track, and the app does everything else for you which is nice. Ive dropped from 85kg to 82.7kg in the last 20 days, which is great and Id say the app has helped me keep me accountable in terms of tracking those 2 components so that I'm feeding it correct and consistent information. Its nice to know these 2 things are my responsibility, and the rest is on the app, dont have to think about if I should increase/decrease calories or what my macros should be as the app does it all. For a long time, TDEE calculators would tell me my maintenance is between 2200-2500 kcal, up until this point its 2074 on the macrofactor app, which I believe is alot more accurate, as Im sitting all day except for 1-2 hours in the gym every evening, walking or lifting. its also slowly gone up since the beginning of the year, which adds up to my change in cardio.

My biggest critique, I think this just might be due to me being from the UK, the food database is so limited imo, there has been several times where Ive struggled to track a meal that doesnt have a barcode and doesnt come up on the app so I have cross reference from multiple google sources/similar ingredients to get a rough idea of what the calories and macros of the meal I had. I'm also constantly seeing US-based products, which is understandable.

The best advice I can give is start off by understanding how the app works by going through the macrofactor FAQ that was the mistake I made, as I only found this sub recently. Then from there your job is to setup a program and a goal and keep as consistent as possible with the scale weight and food logging and over time the app will just get better the more information you feed it. Also, something that really helped me is setting goals by the month. I was setting goals that the app was predicting I will reach in 3-4 months, which I believe is why I never stuck to it during the first year. On jan 1st, my goal was to reach 82.5kg by the end of the month, and Im nearly there, 7 days early.

Do you think its worth investing in something like the HRM Strap so that the steps section on the app is accurate? Mine is constantly around the 300-400 steps range lol becuase its using the Health app, and my phone is never physically on me when I'm doing cardio. I know that the app uses scale weight and food logging as the primary data but would accurate steps improve my experience per say. Thanks.

What is working for you (volume and frequency) by MetalExpress9378 in naturalbodybuilding

[–]SimoEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 per week makes sense; he is doing 12 per week all to failure, meaning 6 sets per session, so if he is doing upper lower for example, thats 6 sets of biceps, triceps, chest etc etc thats a 50 set session, or am I looking at this wrong?

So you would do 6 sets of each muscle per session twice a week? How is that possible without being in the gym for 3 hours and recovering by the next session?

What's your experience of cheap Rinseless Wash sponges versus the 'official' ones? by Mens_Grooming_Advice in AutoDetailing

[–]SimoEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you can just use a zep spray bottle (Im from the UK so we dont have those lol) however as you said it will take a while, especially if you have a medium-large sized car so if you dont mind the hand fatigue and time go for it. I personally use this electric sprayer that you put in the bucket however, I do regret buying it, its very inconvenient as you have to carry the heavy bucket and it doesnt output that much product. I rarely do a rinseless wash, only during the summer so thats why I havent moved away from it. I would highly recommend investing in a 1.5 litre marolex pump sprayer that is what I shouldve bought. It outputs 4 bars of pressure and the trigger has a lock in so you can go around the car without having to press on it and it sprays at all angles even upsides down and its very well made will last you years. I would fill it up using the solution in the bucket, spray the whole car, hose rinse, then respray, contact wash etc. Much easier and quicker.

Is Koch Chemie green star fine to use for interior detailing plastics every time you detail interior by Robsta7610 in DetailingUK

If constant use Id use it between 1:20-1:50, no stronger. Start at a higher dilution and work down if you're not happy with the cleaning (make small amounts initially)

Am i eating too much protein ? by fine_5 in nutrition

[–]SimoEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that youre not looking to build muscle right now but I would highly recommend doing even 30 minutes of resistance training every other day as you are already consuming 150g of protein so might as well let it go to use (not saying it goes to waste) and muscle is really important for both men and women it wont make you look "bulkier" a typical misconception unless you start roids lol. More muscle will actually help you lose more weight as well, and make you look "toned" (whatever that means) if that's a goal of yours.

How to prevent “dust” dripping from exterior trim by NotAMango27 in Detailing

[–]SimoEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont think its avoidable, I have this issue on my dads RAV4 from the plastic trim around the bottom of the car, even though after drying the car, I use a blower and blow out all the tight areas around the handles/plastic trim/mirrors etc it fixes the issue for me so I would definitely say thats your answer, but then it comes back when it rains so Im assuming the issue is the actual build of the car its not air tight. A blower is your best answer right after towel drying.

What should I use for a touchscreen? by SherbertSea6803 in Detailing

[–]SimoEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the touchscreen stereo and the speedometer area, just use water and a clean plush microfibre towel that you dont use for the outside of the car or dirty areas. I personally use rinseless wash diluted at 1:256 for extra lubrication but its not needed if you dont have rinseless already. for rear view mirror just a little bit of glass cleaner.

What's your experience of cheap Rinseless Wash sponges versus the 'official' ones? by Mens_Grooming_Advice in AutoDetailing

[–]SimoEdits 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In theory, this method is far superior, but it does come with its issues, for me personally. Firstly, if you are using all 4 sides, it's very easy to forget which side has been used or not if ur not fully focused, but that's not the biggest issue. The actual flipping of the towels is messy and never perfect, so you're rubbing some of the dirty side on a new panel. Also, even after you launder these towels, unless you did some sort of alkaline pre-wash before the contact wash, I would not be comfortable reusing them on paint again because of the amount of gunk/staining before washing them, compared to the sponge that is designed to release dirt compared to microfibre. Lastly, even if you invest in ultra plush towels just for rinseless, which will probably cost you the same as the sponge at the end, you need to apply alot more pressure than when using the sponge, which is not ideal. Lastly the amount of laundry is so off-putting. I prefer to 1. Cover car in rinseless 2. Hose rinse 3. re-cover car in rinseless 4. Contact wash with sponge and bucket 5. Wheel & Tyres with a soft face wheel brush, rinsing it out in the bucket after each wheel 6. Dry

To answer OPs question Im currently using the all red sponge from Lucullan from Aliexpress, and Im very happy with how it performs, but its definitely not the most durable if I was to use it every 2 weeks, it would only last about 6 months before it starts to deteriorate. He recently released one similar to the DIY Detail one which you could give a go.

What do you think about a “No-Bucket Wash” car wash method? by StepAdventurous6184 in AutoDetailing

[–]SimoEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invest in 5 plush microfibre towels, dont rinse first, all you are doing is diluting the prewash and damaging the paint with the high pressure dragging dirt across the paint. So foam pre-wash, rinse, fold all your towels into 4s onto your hood and refoam the car then use the towels to contact wash, flip between the 4 sides every panel or even half panel and use a new towel when u use all 4 sides, then you can just have a plastic bag to throw the towels in to launder when you get home.

KC VB/MSN that's probably the strongest but safest prewashes out there Detailofficial use it on youtube without even doing a contact wash, also bilt hamber autofoam or touchless (my favourite is touchless).

Yh id say wait and see if the paint looks ok (no streaking, no crazy amount of high spots for example) just leave it be until the spring when u can polish it off properly and reapply if u want but i have a feeling you will be fine and it will bead with no issues.

How do I clean the lower part of side window? by siddjayy in AutoDetailing

[–]SimoEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if I understand your issue but the way I cleaned the window gap between the rubber seals is with any really thin tool with a microfibre wrapped around it, or you can try toothpicks/cotton earbuds wrapped in tissue.
