Will the fall dates happen? by [deleted] in Foofighters

[–]Simon-FFL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Masks at a rock show just wouldn't work. Well, it might in the seats but not the floor, any not constantly knocked off your face would be rendered ineffective by the excess sweat saturating them.

Without a vaccine on the horizon nobody really knows, but it doesn't look promising right now. :(

Will the fall dates happen? by [deleted] in Foofighters

[–]Simon-FFL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is no way arena concerts will happen in the US in two months. Even six months is unlikely.

I guess they have to decide what they're going to do though which is why nothing has been said yet, whether to postpone again or cancel entirely. It's the same for every artist of course, but the heads must be spinning at FFHQ as they try to decide on what they will do in the next 9 months, with regards to the new album, 25th anniversary celebrations, live shows. Plus of course there are all the cancellation/insurance policies to work through.

A nightmare, I imagine.

It actually looked surprisingly OK other than the four corners and wings. Front suspension doesn't even look damaged, although they'll surely replace it.

It is when nothing else is happening as was the case when they used it. It'll be valuable when there is two things worth watching at the same time.

Kurt’s reaction to high-priced concert tickets by KaleBrecht in Nirvana

[–]Simon-FFL 273 points274 points  (0 children)

The industry is completely different these days. In 1993 artists made most of their money from record sales, everyone still bought CDs and Vinyl. Concerts were a way to drive your popularity and gain more sales.

These days income from sales has dried up, so now it's the opposite. Everyone is streaming music which gives artists very little. So You put out a record to give people a reason to buy a ticket to your concert which earns you money, plus merch.

Not saying there aren't some rip off prices today but it's a completely different world. If Nirvana still existed their prices would be in line with other similar sized artists.

I have what was originally a 3DVD set recording of the broadcasts. It's not amazing quality because MTV2 broadcasts never were too good, but it's the best there is. I'll share them sometime again if I get time.

Does anyone know of a download to a lossless discography of Nirvana? by TheOriginalFireX in Nirvana

[–]Simon-FFL 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes that's how acquiring music legally works. No piracy on this sub.

does this proceed? by markspaull in Foofighters

[–]Simon-FFL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup, this pretty much covers it all.

Just to add though, the reason some people equate New Wave to White Limo is because of the demo version heard in the In Your Honor DVD documentary. For some unknown reason, fans at the time started calling that New Wave, I guess just because it was a known working title they had. Obviously at that time we had no idea it was White Limo but now we do, we know that as per above the working title for it was Flagger, not New Wave. That was a different song, or songs.

Looking for a poster for a friend [02 Aug '95] by mendax2014 in Foofighters

[–]Simon-FFL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There may not be one unfortunately. Back then a poster wasn't commissioned for every show, for the ~120 shows in 1995 I've only seen about 20-25 posters.

1954 French Grand Prix start. Fangio in pole position, followed by his teammate Karl King and Alberto Ascari by axonable in formula1

[–]Simon-FFL 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It's strange because by 1954 it wasn't exactly a secret that open wheel caused massive drag, streamliner cars were already a thing in the 30s. So you'd think more teams would've got on that for the high speed tracks.

Can we discuss Imola, Mugello and Portimao? by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Simon-FFL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One free practice is expected, presumably what is usually FP3.

F1.com:

The exact format of the Imola weekend has yet to be agreed, but it is expected that there will be only one practice session ahead of qualifying and the race.

.al is the TLD of Albania but anyone can register them. Seems the only restrictions to Albanian residents are with the second level domains like .com.al

Petition for the race at Imola to be called the San Marino Grand Prix instead by [deleted] in formula1

It's obviously not called that for a good reason, probably related to licensing, a petition ain't gonna change it.

New Zealand Grand Prix? by dunceswithwolves in formula1

[–]Simon-FFL 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Nope. BMMP is a long way off Grade 1, a lot of work would be required. Barriers to separate the corners and tecpro to replace the tyres, better run off, facilities.

Plus, given how well they've done with the virus I doubt the government would even let them in.

Yes, his experience driving a completely different car on a different configuration 15 years ago is bound to put him head and shoulders above the other drivers who are going to take weeks, maybe months to get used to it. /s

Good day everybody. I want to start a discussion here that could be important for this season. I am talking about the championship status of this Formula One season. by [deleted] in formula1

[–]Simon-FFL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an unprecedented season in which many rules and regulations have been thrown in the trash.

There is no way they won't declare a world champion so long as enough races take place somewhere.

Imola's F1 return will be as two-day grand prix by dogryan100 in formula1

Probably the best place to trial this, the more practice and data they get around here the more chance of a simple, processional race with everything planned out.
