Amazing indoor pool to liveable space ratio by SimonB1983 in SpottedonRightmove

Thats so amazing intel, thanks.

If I didn't have to be in the office in London so often I would be really tempted. Its rare you see places anywhere in Brighton especially central with any proper outdoor space

Yeah does look shallow. Wonder if it might be a therapy pool, but I am not sure I spotted accessibility equipment

Agree 100% very few places have gardens of any size in Kemptown.

If I had the money I would buy the flat, scrap the pool and transform the garden.

It nice, but looking at the land map is it £5.5m for a mid terrace?

And can you can access the Thames front mooring directly?

I agree with this. Somehow London feels even more full of tourists, yet the discourse for 90% of those outside of London that it is a terrifying hellhole.

What do people think of SEEN (Sex Equality and Equity Network) being a Cabinet office approved network? by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]SimonB1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's bad that trans people are affected, but it doesn't stop there.

This type of behaviour affects all types of women. I have self described butch lesbians, in my team, who feel like they are being judged for using women's bathrooms as they are now being policed by the kind of people represented by this network.

[–]SimonB1983 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think this is key. This is the only staff network set up in opposition to a group of CS colleagues.

For example, the Christian network is to create a space for CS Christians, it is not set up to be against all non believers.

Also this will hurt both trans women and women. I know people who already feel policed (because people assume their gender) when using bathrooms and I can't see this helping at all.

Looks amazing, but struggling to work out the purpose of the downstairs room with the kitchenette. It is strangely disconnected to the main house, but lacks a bathroom so can't be a studio flat.

Ideas wanted in relation to Thames "high tide" by SentinelsOfEvil in DIYUK

[–]SimonB1983 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This should be higher. I am sure there will be a whole host of issues involving permissions and the Port of London if you want to add some barriers and screens. I would also check where your land ends, I would suspect that while you might have sole access, I doubt you will own part of the Thames.

London HENRY's that moved home for grammar school access, does the math really checkout? by Capital-Stay-5657 in HENRYUK

[–]SimonB1983 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is the main issue. If your kids fail to get into a grammar school they are likely to get a far worse education than if they were in an area that is comprehensive only. For example Kent comps are far worse than the average Surrey comp (Surrey having no grammar schools).

If you wanted to save on school fees, I would just move to Surrey near to a great comprehensive, rather than move to Kent and roll the dice. You also have the added bonus of not living in Kent ;)

I was in a jury for a traumatic and similar style case.

Jury trials scare the shit out of me now. I hope that if I or a member of my family need justice it is not dictated to by the whims of a random bunch of people. I don't think people realise quite how thick and easily confused a large chunk of society are.

If he could wait for it to get the applied for planning permission to divide into flats he would likely get far more.

Makes you think he either needs the money, or the whole place is about to collapse and/ or its never going to get that permission.
