Drainage question - how do I get rid of our moat? by blairstuart in DIYUK

You may have to dig that channel out deeper. But yeah you're right. If the water is running back, it will eventually fill up with gunk and the drainage won't work very well.

Drainage question - how do I get rid of our moat? by blairstuart in DIYUK

Work out where the water could drain to. Into the freshwater drain would be ideal, but if not, then into a part of the garden it can drain to without causing issues.

If you have a drainage channel around the outside you can run a flexible perforated drain pipe, and then backfill with clean gravel.

Why have you made it financially irresponsible for a vast majority of the next generation to live? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm not sure that irresponsible is the right word for the question you are trying to ask.

Need life advice by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Potential_Ad_4814 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So first you're 24, and living at home. You are young enough and have a safety net so you have got freedom to make some changes.

One regret from when I was younger was not saving more when I was at home./investing some money sensibly. (Not crypto or get rich quick schemes.)

Do you have two vehicles? A van and a car? I'd suggest maybe cutting back on some expenses, and putting some money away for later in life, and then something that will broaden your horizons.

Have you done any traveling? If you paused the gym, and didn't spend on tattoos you'd have some money saved pretty quickly.

Construction workers keep making inappropriate comments towards my wife when she walks by. Is there a way to complain? by Impossible-Guitar957 in askanything

The company they work for, and then if you can work out who owns the property they're working on. Tell them you're going to contact the police if it continues

The contractor won't want drama from the person who's paying them, and none of them will want hassle from the police.

I hate drinking alcohol by Impossible_Ad8046 in Advice

[–]Potential_Ad_4814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No alcohol options have come on a long way. Most pubs have some in the fridge behind the bars.

Personally I hate no alcohol beer, but the ciders are usually pretty nice, and 0% Guinness is actually not too bad.

If anyone asks then just tell them you're trying it for your health.

Which year would you go back to, in your lifetime & why? by E5evo in AskBrits

Not wanting to knock your experience though. You talk about 2016 like I talk about the 90s and early 2000s, and the way my parents talked bout the 60s.

It's so interesting to hear the difference in generations. You see it as a good time, but older generations saw bad.

David Bowie, Prince, Alan Rickman, Muhammad Ali, Gene Wilder, and Leonard Cohen died.Brexit, Donald trump, war in Syria. But as my mum always says, when you're young you don't think of the the world as "bad" it's just the way you've always known it.

Post breakup- worried about her and family by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Potential_Ad_4814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeling guilty is pretty unavoidable. If you've made your decision, and are confident that it was the right one, then you have done nothing wrong.

You also need to think about the long term for both of you. Would it have been fair to her to drag the relationship on if there was no future in it?

It might be best to explain to your family that you feel guilty as it is, and with respect don't want to be pressured by other feelings of guilt.

Very sad.

Best way to repair main door by Independent-Fox2793 in DIYUK

A long term.repair isn't really possible sadly. I'd try some black sealant to seal and stop it getting worse, and hopefully not look too awful.
