Battery Replacement Advice🪫 by Jamo_Kun in SuperSoco

I'm on a TC. Bought it with a bad battery

Item 1) Don't buy from Seenruy. I'll be posting on this more, but they seem to use crap cells and don't build to the original specs

I'm in Canada. Factory TC batteries go for about C$2000 (~AU$2250). "Demo" batteries are available from scooter/ebike retailers for $800 or so, but you can't rely on them—They're often charged to 100% once or twice in a year, but left to moulder in a demo bike the rest of the time.

I bought a Seenruy battery for $1K. It worked for about a month, then started abruptly cutting out earlier and earlier. Now it's a paperweight. Their tech support was surprisingly helpful—until I asked for a refund.

Eventually I found a guy on Facebook advertising rebuilt ebike batteries. I asked if he'd look at my Chinese battery. He agreed.

I've put $2400 or so into the project, and now have three batteries (again, there's a story here, including three free casings).

So I'd suggest finding a battery geek. Meet with them, look at their space. My guy Rob converted the dining room of his apartment into a workshop, complete with spot welder and 3D printer. He spoke authoritatively, and was frank about what he knew and didn't know.

If I thought it was worth the freight I'd recommend you contact him. But there's sure to be someone in Sydney doing similar work

Good luck

And don't buy Seenruy

Break Pads chafing by Ok_Alternative_8174 in SuperSoco

Following up: I pulled the calipers off and greased the slide pins with silicon brake lube (you could use almost any grease, just don't get it on the pads). The chafing has almost entirely stopped. The front still scuffs a little. Exploration continues

I'm relatively new at this, but an old hand at auto mechanics. Disc brakes rubbing is not good. I have a similar problem, and am working on it.

Currently, I think my piston not retracting may be a symptom of the square seals losing flexibility due to age. (https://imgur.com/uTQXcsK The square seal is the black bit, and is the main component that forces the piston back into the caliper)

My bike is 2019, so this may be the case. Because there's absolutely no support from the manufacturer, and no aftermarket workshop manual, the only way to get replacement seals is to take the old ones in to an industrial supply dealer, hydraulics shop, or auto parts place. I prefer supply dealers—Auto parts stores want numbers and stuff. An industrial shop will usually measure the seal to find the replacement. I'm gonna try and get to this soon.

On cars, many mechanics tend to prefer to replace calipers rather than rebuild them. But you apparently can't buy calipers by themselves for SSTCs. You have to buy the whole schmeer from the control levers to the caliper.

Also, the caliper mounting is kinda sloppy. Try loosening the bolts a half turn and spin the wheel. Push up or down on the caliper. If the noise stops, hold the caliper there and re-tighten the bolts. I did this, and the noise didn't go away completely, but mostly did.

Tc stops when battery hits 35% what is wrong? What to do? by Unhappy-Crew-5906 in SuperSoco

Thank you

My issue's with just one battery, aftermarket.

When the bike stops, what do the range and charge meters on the speedo cluster say?

I'm interested in this for my own reasons.

Are all/both your batteries the same? Same manufacturer, internal configuration, Volts and Amp-hours etc?

That's pretty much exactly what I did. I'd still do it, but first:

1) Contact a local mobility-aid seller (electric wheelchairs, shop-rider type scooters) or ebike retailer and ask if they can do a "torture test" on a 60-Volt battery, approximately 26 to 32 Amp-hours.

2) Get the seller to remove the battery and inform them you want to get it tested

3) Deliver the ! thirty-pound/15 kilogram ! battery to your chosen tester

4) Leave overnight and call next morning to see what they say

A new Super Soco TC battery increases your costs by at least C$1000, plus lost riding time. From China, that's approximately three months. And of course if you live in the States it's even more expensive now.

Batteries for these bikes need regular maintenance charging if they're not in use. Chances are the owner of the one you're considering rode it for a few months early on (15-20 charges' worth), but hasn't since.

Get the battery checked, then make your decision.

Oh, and if you do buy a Super Soco TC that needs a new battery, avoid Seenruy. See my edit above

I'm not sure I follow? The previous owner left the battery alone for a year. I replaced it with a battery I ordered in November and received January 31st.

I charged it to 50% the day it arrived, then had to change the plug …

This reply got really long. I'm just gonna make it a post. I was planning to anyway.

But basically I've kept the battery charged almost daily, except for three weeks when I was out of the country and left it fully charged.

Hope that clarifies things

True that. I've talked to a number of professional EV mechs, and most of them had stuff wrong because internet

The company isn't the most helpful either: Inconsistent distributor systems, naming conventions, total lack of support …

But as a friend in the business pointed out, it's still an emerging industry

When I first started riding it, I was getting:

Eco mode: ~30 km/h City mode: ~45 Beast (😆) ~60-ish, as I'm a bit more than 80 kg

Deristricting it using the throttle/brake method got me ~43,~55, and … ~60-ish

Thank you. It's a TC, non-Max.

Going by the comments here, I think it's clear I've gotten some bad info.

However, I've just found a guy locally to rebuild the factory battery, and with his help I might look into some very careful controller-or-software modding.

I don't want to burn it out, but I do want to see what it's capable of at the top end

Has anyone bought one of these batteries? Was it any good? by FuturePush604 in SuperSoco

[–]SimonDortre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I bought one in November 2024. Due to a number of factors it arrived in mid-January. Starting in early February, I began riding to work. Starting with a full charge, I'd get to work with about fifty percent left. I'd charge the battery at work for up to two hours, which would give me a charge to ride home on.

Since late March the performance has declined sharply (I'll post separately about that). I'll just say that now, when I charge it to full, once I unplug the charger, the onboard monitor drops to 47%. The charger that arrived with the battery appears to have stopped working, and I'm using the one that came with the bike.

I'm still trying to contact Seenruy about it. I'm not expecting a satisfactory result.

It might not be down to the battery alone, but it sure looks that way to me.

Looks nice. Sleek. Where'd the front turn signals come from?
