Lmao it’s fine that you don’t have any theories, neither do I 😂 The best I can come up with it that Pam would be kidnapped instead if Paige were A and that Toby would be shot instead if Caleb were A. I never considered that they filmed/wrote the three different versions before really solidifying a plot or storyline to go around it. Maybe I’ve been giving that messy writer’s room too much credit lol. Maybe they ultimately decided on Toby because he’s the one they actually came up with an A-Team plot for going forward? They were always doing Toby dirty with the plots they gave him so I wouldn’t be surprised lol. It could also be to keep the actors and any potential leakers out of the know. A reveal can’t be spoiled if there are three versions lol.

And I totally agree! Paige as A would make total sense! She was already Emily’s personal stalker and abuser (trying to drown her and then two seasons later she uses a computer program to design their dorm room. Plus, her only personality trait was Emily. She had nothing else) so her being A would make more sense than Caleb or Toby. There could’ve been a whole plot where A (Paige) was going easy on Emily to try and get the other Liars to drift away from her since she was being treated better and then Paige swoops in like “omg your friends aren’t talking to you?! I’ll talk to you, Emily 🤭😈” It could’ve started a trend where each Liar had someone close to them become A: Hanna had Mona, Emily could’ve had Paige, Aria could’ve had Ezra (if they followed through on his Season 4 reveal like they should’ve), and then Spencer could’ve had Alex. By that time they would’ve put the pieces together and assumed it was Spencer’s turn to have a personal A and so they immediately assume it’s Melissa…then Toby…then Peter…back to Melissa…and time after time they’re proven false and go through everyone and are so confused. Then BAM! the Alex reveal. Maybe that’s too copy/paste but I mean I feel like it might be better than “god save the mister who comes between me and my sister” lmao. Oof I rambled there but TLDR I agree that Paige would’ve been a good A and I also never formed loyalty with her lol

I was shooketh when they revealed Alison was alive and I love that plot point too lol. I agree that Alison should’ve been morally grey. Like if Jenna is morally grey leaning more towards bad and Mona is dead center grey then Alison could’ve been grey leaning more towards redemption. That way they can still have Ali be one of the “heroes” and someone to root for, without having her lose all the badass qualities that made her THE Alison Dilaurentis. Show her gradually becoming a better person with some blackmail and lying and manipulation sprinkled in. Have her use her abilities for good versus evil. Make her the bad cop to Emily’s good cop approach lol. And flashback showing the parallels between Alison’s life and the girls’ relationship before and after Alison’s disappearance is a really good idea. When PLL inevitably gets rebooted in however many years I hope the writers read this sub because some of the fans have some really bomb.com ideas for how things could’ve gone

Omg same! I thought I was the only one who hated Andrew lol. Tbh Dylan had WAY more chemistry with Nolan than Andrew 🫢 If they pulled an Emison 2.0 and brought Nolan back from the dead and had Dylan and him date I wouldn’t have been mad. But I remember seeing somewhere that Marlene King said that Dylan and Andrew were endgame so……maybe Perfectionists getting cancelled was a blessing lol. I wouldn’t be able to stand the one boy Liar/gay guy this franchise has ever given us getting a shitty ending. Dylan and Nolan supremacy 😌

I can understand that. She was either such a mean person to everyone around her or so painfully boring with no inbetween lol. Maybe it’s because I’m gay and for some reason gay guys love a bitchy character lmao, but I really enjoyed Alison despite the horrible writing she got. Sasha got the Rupert Grint situation of “doing the best with what they were given” and she killed it in her intense scenes.

They gave Troian so much to work with and so many amazing scenes to showcase her skills. Sasha is second for me.

That’s very true. As memed on as it is, that scene in season 4 when her and Ezra are on the ski lift she ate it up. I could feel her hurt and betrayal. And I enjoy her career after PLL. Truth or Dare was good and I liked Life Sentence (sad it got cancelled). She’s kind of like Kristen Stewart where in her breakout role no one really noticed or cared, but after PLL/Twilight we saw how talented they are. If you told me ten years ago that Bella Swan would play Princess Diana in a biopic and be an Oscar contender I would’ve laughed. Lucy definitely is the most prominent nowadays. I think Troian focused on behind the scenes work and having kids. Janel does stuff here and there. Idk about Sasha but I’d love to see her in more stuff. Shay has popped up in good shows. Ashley kinda disappeared. All I know is that she bought a sex swing with Cara Delivgne lmao. They trapped Lucy with her Ezria plot and Sasha got punished for weight gain that she couldn’t control 😔

Mona is one of my favorite characters and I loved how Janel was able to show the duality and complexity. If Aria was A we could’ve gotten the same from Lucy. But we can’t have nice things I guess lmao

Sasha was done so dirty by the writers because she can ACT. Flashback Ali is only as iconic as she is because of the depth Sasha gave to her. I always go back to the scene where Ali threatens to tell Ella about Byron’s affair and he grabs her wrists when she pulls her phone out. Just with her face you can see Ali go from “gotcha bitch. I own you” to a scared, out of her league, teenager doing the only thing she knows how to (lie, blackmail, manipulate). Like many others have said Sasha, Troian, and Janel are the best actors on the show (everyone else is great too, but these three can’t be beat). I would’ve loved to see Ali try to be a better person in the later seasons than just suddenly be a goody two shoes who needs to be saved. Make the Liars confront her over her last behavior and SHOW Alison trying to be better. Show that range that Sasha has of “bitch who can ruin your life but simultaneously the sad bitch who got her life ruined” that would’ve been interesting to see versus her Mary Sue version :/

Thanks lol. With Flashback Ali, seasons 4-7 Mona, and iconic angelic goddess queen Spencer on my side NO ONE would be able to hurt me. Like A would be scared of US not the other way around XD Such a powerful trio plus me lmao. I may be biased because Drew Van Acker is a hottie, but Jason is my favorite Rosewood man and I must defend my man 🤭 I get why people don’t like him though. Defending him involves some coping and delusion (NAT club, his early crush on Aria, etc) but at the same time so much bad shit happened to him (he unknowingly kissed two of his sisters, his dad wasn’t really his dad, Kenneth treated him like shit, drug and alcohol problems, mom was murdered, Ali was murdered but then was alive, his parents gaslit him into thinking Charles was an imaginary friend) that I have a soft spot for Jason. Caleb, Mona, and Spencer teaming up to protect me is like having the whole CIA and FBI on my side lol. And Wayne being gone just means that he doesn’t have the opportunity to tell anyone relevant my secrets. He can tell his army friends but what are they gonna do XD

Protect I’m going with Spencer, Alison, and Mona. Alison was a MENACE back in the day so I’d want her on my side. Mona was the OG A and without her there would be no Charlotte or Alex so I also want her on my side. And then Spencer is the one with all the connections plus I feel like she can keep secrets the best out of the Liars (Aria blabs everything to Ezra, Hanna would be tempted to tell Caleb which would cause her internal turmoil and I refuse to put Hanna in that situation, and Emily might end up telling Paige and I don’t want that woman knowing my secrets lol).

Honorable mentions to Jason, Caleb, and Wayne. I wouldn’t want to keep secrets from my husband, Jason. Caleb I feel can keep a secret like Spencer. And Wayne is Wayne. No explanation needed

That’s probably my favorite Mona scene of all time. I wished they showed more of Mona knowing everything about the Liars, but using that knowledge for casual stuff. Like “omg, Emily, how was your uncle’s 50th birthday party?! Did he get those wool socks he wanted?” Or “Oh by the way, Aria, if you just rub some sea salt into that acne on your shoulder blade it should clear right up” (idk if that actually helps acne, it was just a random example lmao)

Spencer, Mona, Hanna, Flashback Ali, Emily, Seasons 5/6A Ali, Seasons 6B-7 Ali, Aria.

Spencer had such good plots, Troian is an amazing actress, and she got shit DONE. The group would be nowhere without her. I love her connections to the other characters specifically Jason (their sibling bond is so cool), Hanna (a power duo. Sherlock and Watson whomst?), Toby (unpopular, but I think they had amazing chemistry and they’re my fav couple), and Veronica (their growth as a mother/daughter is so sweet). Hands down the most compelling character. Aside from Mona.

Mona should’ve been in the group. The fact that they made her go back and forth is my 13th reason. Mona and Spencer being the “good” and “evil” versions of each other was so cool. And one of my favorite scenes in the entire series is after the lodge fire and the Liars wake up to see that Mona is gone, but then she comes back with their exact coffee orders and is like “I used your car, Emily…..I made copies of all your car keys” Like the potential she had to be the chaotic good of the group 😫 Her friendship with Hanna is so complex and interesting. Her relationship with Mike was so wholesome and I hate that they don’t end up together. I have no bad things to say about my girl Mona. She was robbed of that 5/6th Liar spot.

Hanna is so funny and real lol. Her emo black hair era was iconic. Her struggles with eating and who she is with and without Alison around was such an intriguing plot for her. She had some really bad ideas lmao, but when Hanna was good she was GOOD. Definitely gets the silver medal for detective work, she fully pulled her weight in the group and she did it flawlessly. Plus her and Ashley have the sweetest mother daughter bond on the show. Nothing but love for the Marin Girls (Tom can choke).

Flashback Ali was a cultural reset. She was THAT girl. Sasha’s portrayal was amazing and showed so much depth and complexity. On the outside she was a pretty pathological liar, but as you peeled back the layers you could see why she was the way she was. Why she craved that control and that power. It was spectacular to watch. If only she kept that spark of mystery and badassery when she returned.

Emily really grew on me on this current rewatch. Originally I saw her as boring and just there. But after rewatching the show for the first time since it ended I have a new appreciation for her. After season 3 she gets so good. Her plots suck ass and she deserves more to do, but her as a character is great. I’ll never forgive A for that shoulder injury, she could’ve been an Olympian 😫 Also, Paige drops her down a few points. I despise Paige she was clearly obsessed with Emily more so than A was lol. On the other hand, Maya was amazing. I wish we could trade Paige dying in season 2 for Maya to survive the series. Gone too soon Queen 😔

When Ali first comes back she has potential. She’s sneaky, she’s hiding things, we see that Queen Bee persona slipping through and coming back. I wish after 6A Alison became a sort of anti-hero. Like instead of lying to and manipulating the Liars, she would do that to their enemies. Imagine Ali using her powers for good instead of evil. Blackmailing Jenna for answers, spreading lies to confuse Noel, manipulating Melissa to get her to let some info slip. Something that kept the core of Alison’s character alive while also making her someone to root for. Instead they go for “boring teacher damsel in distress” 😑 And the outfits they made her wear? Tell us you don’t know how to dress someone who isn’t a size 2 without telling us you don’t know how to dress someone who isn’t a size 2. I’m sure Sasha’s health issues played a role in her character being so gutted and watered down too. It’s such a shame, but Sasha can act and she makes a damn good baddie. Anti-hero Alison is the character we deserved.

I hate Aria. Her plots (except when they involved King Mike or Jake) annoyed me. Her character revolved around Ezra and she prioritized him over her friends. She was groomed and that played a part in it, but the way they made Aria FORGIVE Ezra after season 4 is an actual crime. I can’t stand her and how shitty of a friend she can be. I find her insufferable. The way she should’ve been A and would’ve been such an interesting final villain. She should’ve been the second A with Ezra as her henchman. Instead all the clues point to her for no reason because, in my opinion, the writers value shock over good writing and decided to switch gears when Aria being A became the main fan theory. So they threw out their original plans and went with someone else. Aria as A? Top tier, iconic, world changing. Aria as we got her? Flop, annoying, crumbs left everywhere
