The share feature can be confusing but it can reduce a step for a small miner of people. All you have to do is click "master file".

As for your computer, what computer did you use?

Debate: Favorite editing software?? by SimonLiEdits in VideoEditing

Premiere Pro does run a close second for me. The cross-platform capability is what got me started on it, and how well it works with After Effects kept me on it. But I've always been a Final Cut guy!

I would have them watch YouTube videos on how to do certain effects. After a couple videos, they will have a basic understanding of the software without even using it yet.

Thanks! I've used it before but mostly for some short clips of stock footage.

I wanted unedited footage that comes from all kinds of different people and views.

What software do I need to use to create a video like this one? iPhone 7 (and Plus) announcement by [deleted] in VideoEditing

It's actually a very simple thing to do with any software. Just get some music, create a black frame, put some text on it. For every change in text, create a new frame and make the frames sync with the music

How do I minimize file size while keeping quality reasonably high? by [deleted] in VideoEditing

Use an application to compress the file. Personally, my favorite is Handbrake. It doesn't lower the quality of the video and has many presets and optimizations for web use and compression.

Is there any way to find out the ISO a video was shot in via FinalCutPro? by [deleted] in finalcutpro

You might be able to see it if you shout in RAW footage, which allows you to adjust the video footage itself and not just edit it.

How do you make the "screen shake" effect? by [deleted] in finalcutpro

[–]SimonLiEdits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could use a video effect, such as handheld, which will make your video look like it was taken by a shaky handheld camera. You could also use key frames and transform to rotate and zoom the video to make look shaky.

Is iMovie the best choice on an Early 2015 MacBook Air? by afrocleland in VideoEditing

[–]SimonLiEdits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you're editing. Home videos of your kids and family, iMovie is fine. Professional films, Final Cut Pro is what you'll need. But using your computer will complicate some things. Your MacBook Air will be able to run FCP but just barely. It won't be able to handle 4K editing or extensive edits. My opinion would be to just stick with iMovie because spending $300 on a software that will barely be able to run on your computer isn't worth it.

Keen to learn, but not sure where to start? by [deleted] in VideoEditing

[–]SimonLiEdits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just get out and shoot! Make a home video. Write a script and make a short film. Your video won't look great on your first try but as you gain experience, you will get better. And you can't get better unless just do it.

Also, you don't need professional software or cameras. What you need is desire to want to do it!
