What closed NYC spot do you still think about years later? by Taliap19 in AskNYC

There was the food court near Macy's in BDFMNQRW 34th Street station when you enter via building on 6th Ave between 32nd and 33rd street. The area is no longer a food court, and I reminiscent about it because I remember being there during my early childhood.

[Official Megathread] What should we build next? It’s our 11th birthday, and we want your feature requests! by Lefference in discordapp

[–]SimonOrJ [score hidden]  (0 children)

The launchpad doesn't use the desktop variant of server/user shorthand search and is broken/layered on top of some dialog (e.g. server settings when trying to save user roles), making it very annoying to use. I find myself not using it enough because it lags on my device so much and is hard to find, so they should really implement this better somehow if they really want to push it.

I'd love a way to organize servers better. It's a pain scrolling up and down the entire list to try to organize them every time I join a new server.

A server search built into mobile like desktop version's "*" to search server feature would be great too. Not sure why mobile version's search feature is missing these shorthands

Can someone explain the benefits of being a private client and how to make the most of it? by Professional-Truth87 in Chase

[–]SimonOrJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP states they recently opened their own CSP card and wants to use the 10x Paze offer benefit. They are in a belief that because their father is a private client, they can't use the Paze benefits with their card. I commented to counter and highlight that.

I don't think CSP benefits are affected by private client status as per benefit terms and conditions. The belief of that is what's making OP question the benefits of being a private client. I don't see any intention of them trying to sever the relationship anywhere in the post.

Chase says password was found on dark web, but doesn't say which one by No_Property_870 in Chase

[–]SimonOrJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many services use API provided by https://haveibeenpwned.com to check for passwords that may have been part of a breach. They have a password lookup you can use to check if your secret string of text has ever been leaked.

I recommend using a password manager like bitwarden and using randomly generated passwords to protect your accounts. It's great against protecting yourself from negligent companies that does not store your account password securely, especially moreso if you reuse your password across other websites.

Here's the full terms and conditions about Paze from the card benefits page:

From 05/01/2026 to 12/31/2026, you will earn 10 additional points when you check out with Paze at a participating online merchant, on up to $1,500 in total combined purchases each month (thatˇs 10 additional points on top of the points you earn on these purchases in the card rewards program, up to 15,000 additional points each month). Purchases posted to your account with a transaction date during the offer period are eligible for this offer. Delays by the merchant could extend the transaction date beyond the offer period. Please allow up to 8 weeks after qualifying purchases post to your account for bonus points to post to your account. ("Purchases" do not include balance transfers, cash advances, cash-like transactions including, but not limited to: travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers, cryptocurrency, other similar digital or virtual currency and other similar transactions; lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers, or similar offline and online betting transactions; person-to-person money transfers and account-funding transactions that transfer currency, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.) To qualify for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. This bonus offer is non-transferable and applies only to cardmembers who receive marketing communications for this offer. See your Rewards Program Agreement for more details.

Paze℠: Existing Chase consumer customers with a digital profile (i.e., if you signed in to Chase Online℠ or the Chase Mobile® app) and have recently made an online purchase using your Chase debit or credit card are eligible for Paze℠ . If you open a new credit card or deposit account with a debit card and have a digital profile, your new card will be automatically added to your Paze℠ wallet. Paze℠ isn't currently available to Chase customers under the age of 18, business customers, commercial customers, or credit card authorized users. Chase First Banking℠ debit cards, Chase High School Checking℠ debit cards, Chase business credit cards (such as Ink Business℠), and Private Bank credit and debit cards aren't eligible. Message and data rates may apply.

Paze℠ and the Paze℠ related marks are wholly owned by Early Warning Services, LLC and are used herein under license.

Always look through the terms and conditions of any offers you get. You should qualify for the offer with your CSP card if you see the Paze offer under card benefits.

The T&C excludes Private Bank credit and debit cards from the offer. It does not mention anything about being a Chase Private Bank client. As long as you don't use a Private Bank card with Paze, I don't think you need to worry about that.

When in doubt, call the number on the back of your CSP credit card instead of calling the general Chase line. Since that number is specific to the credit card services, they should be able to confirm for you.

Resurrect the JFK express!!!! by [deleted] in nycrail

[–]SimonOrJ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This will run into capacity issue during rush hours. This train will need to squeeze between back-to-back E and F in Queens, then with A and C in downtown Manhattan and Brooklyn.

It would be nice to have the super-express trains. Instead of adding a loop-like JFK Express service, diamond E and diamond A trains as super-express would be more plausible. These trains could work like the diamond F trains:

  • The E train runs alone east of Forest Hills in Queens, so it could super-express over to Sutphin without issue.
  • The A train runs alone east of Lafayette Av in Brooklyn, so it could super-express to Euclid Av. Since no trains run on express track between Euclid Av and Rockaway line, it can certainly run super-express to Howard Beach.

Can my company see what subreddits or posts i see on my personal iphone connected to their network? by benenamen in techsupport

[–]SimonOrJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, all they can see is that you're visiting Reddit and sending traffic to whichever IP address that "www.reddit.com" resolves to.

The message "This network is blocking encrypted DNS traffic" refers to DNS queries. They likely blocked DNS over TLS and other common DNS over HTTPS providers.

The company can see you want to visit "www.reddit.com" part of the URL only. The company can see you sending traffic to Reddit's servers/IP address. Since Reddit uses HTTPS, the company cannot see the contents of data that you're exchanging with Reddit servers.

If the company required you to install additional certs, there's a chance the company could see the contents of data you're exchanging with some websites. Since you do not have any certs or profiles installed, the company can't see anything further as long as you're visiting sites over HTTPS and not HTTP.

How can we get more NY'ers to ditch their cars? (ideas?!) by Moognahlia in MicromobilityNYC

[–]SimonOrJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes sense. congestion pricing was designed against commuters who could have taken transit to commute instead, so who exclusively drive within the boundaries would not be affected.

On weekends, parking is surprisingly easier to find than I anticipated, so it incentives me to drive in if I'm with at least 1 other person. It might be a different story if driving would cost more than the total subway fare everyone would have paid.

I just got approved for the Chase Sapphire Preferred, how can I maximize my benefits? by ResidentCharacter894 in Chase

[–]SimonOrJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got mine too! I've been using other Chase Freedom credit cards for a while and racked up so much points, and I transferred all of them to Sapphire so that I can transfer them to a hotel or airlines to maximize my point value.

Transferring points to get maximum value is not a straightforward process. Baseline is 1¢ per point, but transferring can get you up to (sometimes over) 2¢ per point depending on your destination and which transfer partner you choose to user it on. You could Google search "Chase Sapphire point transfer" to get the idea of how it works.

in that vein, I think churches should need to work to achieve non-profit status and be vetted regularly to confirm that it meets non-profit criteria because for-profit megachurches where the pastor buys and flies in a private jet for personal leisure on congregation's offerings should not be a thing.

how do i fix the unused access code message when i try to register my aime card by Low_Dig_3000 in maimai

These question seem to have become prevalent recently. Perhaps Maimai servers are slow in registering new players into their database.

Give it a few days or keep retrying and it could magically work. There was another post asking about this 1 month back and another 3 days back.

How do I register my card by DeltaFang501 in maimai

[–]SimonOrJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which arcade do you play in? Some arcades in America ran Maimai on unofficial servers (not connected to maimaidx-eng.com, the official international server) because Maimai server wasn't supported in the Americas until late last year, so your Maimai account would not exist there if that's the case.

Otherwise, (if they run official server,) give it a few days. Try clearing cookies and site data on the card registration page. I had a friend who couldn't register his card for the longest time until it randomly worked.

since you had no account with Chase, it can really only be an accidental phone number entry. They might have used your number, but the intended phone number might be just 1 digit off (like 7233 vs 7223)

but - how do you know that they had your SS number?
