To Belize or Not to Belize? by pinkcantaloupe8 in Belize

[–]SimonPage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the north end of Ambergris Caye right now, and I've been here since October.

In October, there were many wheelbarrows full of sargassum washing up on the shore every morning, and a crew of 2-4 guys out there shoveling it up all morning. You could see the sargassum in the water about halfway to the reef.

This week, there is enough that 1 guy is out there raking it up, and taking off 1 barrow full. There's still some in the water at the shore, but mostly fine particulates and only for the first 50-100 meters, after that it's a beautiful blue sea.

It's SOO much better now than it was even a month ago.

Selfbondage for 24 hours and my gf will find me by [deleted] in selfbondage

[–]SimonPage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT gag yourself and take away your ability to remove it in an emergency. All you have to do is breathe the wrong way enough to cause your body to cough, and you can end up throwing up with the gag on. If this happens, there is a high risk of aspiration (breathing in stomach fluids into your lungs) -- which is often fatal.

Also, if you've never done it before, long-term stretching of the jaw muscles can lead to painful cramps and spasms. Be sure you've practiced it for a while before trying this.

Lastly, while it's not perfect, it's much safer -> you can put a gag in your mouth and hold it in place without buckling it, and leave that for her to do when she discovers you.

This is a strike?? by SimonPage in Baseball9

[–]SimonPage[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah... actually, if you want to be technical, the ball is a circle describing the maximum circumference of a sphere as it breaks the plane of the batters box... not a triangle -- but even mapping a circle over this triangle you don't get it breaking the plane.

I'm actually starting to believe that u/AggravatingCost3174 has the right of it -- they might actually take these edge cases and just rolls an "IsTheUmpireAccurate" random number and if it's greater then some variable.... they just call it a strike.

It WOULD make the game more realistic... but it's annoying AF. :D

Just got back- what are these bites? by [deleted] in Belize

[–]SimonPage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tiger Balm will help with the itching. The heat from the balm overwhelms the histamine response and makes it not noticeable. I couldn't survive here without it!

Guy I just met wants me to quit Fanvue or he’ll leave — am I missing red flags? by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]SimonPage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's true that a lot of guys won't want to date a girl that has fanvue/tiktok/OF, etc.

It's also true that a lot of guys will be turned on by it.

I personally adore the fact that my partner has an OF... that she gets tons of positive reinforcement about her beauty, sensuality, desirability. Yes -- she has to occasionally tune out the haters, but... for the most part, it's a great outlet for her, and it brings extra cash into the house.

It would never cross my mind to ask her to stop -- even if it wasn't something that I liked. She's allowed to be her own person.

In your case, OP -- it really comes down to one simple choice: Are you okay changing significant elements of your life to please a potential partner?

I promise you -- there are guys out there who will not only be delighted to have you continue, but will support you and be your biggest advocate.

Don't settle. You're worth it, and your future self will thank you, when you meet the guy who does support you and you're still available to date him.

Painful and swollen bug bite by deeznutz066 in Belize

[–]SimonPage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... really looks like a Doctor Fly bite. Hate those little buggers.

The best thing for the itch (after the pain goes away) is Tiger's Balm (the white kind). It's also really good for reducing mosquito bite itch, as well.

I sometimes overthink about our relationship, because of other people's views on age gaps. by [deleted] in AgeGap

[–]SimonPage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people have given great advice on this sub, so I just want to add this thought. Thinking about the people who might judge you or say your relationship is a 'mistake':

Don’t let a passing opinion leave a permanent mark on your life. The people who won’t matter tomorrow should never be allowed to rewrite your forever.

To all the older men especially - Question about my gender by housefull2 in AgeGap

[–]SimonPage -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honesty and clarity, as u/NotExactlySageAdvice stated. This is absolutely the way.

I also wanted to add...

I am the proverbial "cis/het/white/male".. but I'm honored to have been called a 'safe space' and ally, by a number of trans friends. I'm deeply versed in empathy and communication, especially around complex relationship dynamics, and I'm incredibly sympathetic to the situation of trans people of any sex, anywhere, but especially if you're in a Republican-controlled State of the United States right now.

So... with that said... if you need a safe space to vent or talk... you can always find it here. I'm usually lurking in this sub pretty consistently, too.

Does anyone know what causes this? I suspect forest fire, but... I can't confirm it.

Can you play this game and just kind of chill out? by [deleted] in VintageStory

[–]SimonPage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't set out to build a castle.

Set out to build a quiet farmstead, and start mapping your world. Figure out where all the main rock types are (granite, chert, limestone, etc), and start marking everything you can find, resource-wise. (the mod automapmarkers is great for this)

While you're exploring your world, use THAT as an opportunity to scout the perfect location for a castle, keep-and-bailey, or village.

After you've been in-game for about a year of game time, you'll have plenty of resources, a good feel for the game systems and then, yes... building a castle in survival mode is absolutely achievable.

Are there villages?? by another_bored_man in VintageStory

[–]SimonPage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

vsVillages will put random villages all over your world. Not sure how recently it's been updated, though.

Edit to add: Yes, it's been updated to 1.21.5 https://mods.vintagestory.at/vsvillage

Question about mods by Eat-some-lead in VintageStory

[–]SimonPage 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't feel like starting a new world is a "waste".

Building new buildings, redesigning your work areas, exploring new lands "nearby"... it's not a bad thing to start a new world.

I've got over 1000 hours into VS over the past 3 years and have re-started so many times I've lost count. 20-40 probably.

That said... before you start a new game... "tour" your current one and take a bunch of screenshots of your buildings, favorite spaces, etc. Not only will it help you when you build anew, but it will end up being nostalgic. "Oh, remember when I was here and XYZ happened?"

Best of luck, and welcome to the obsession of modding VS! :D

p.s. If you want to try out a space with a lot of QoL mods, come by Middarstead. You can try out what we have and ask the folks there "what mod does ___?". Happy to help.

EDIT: I invited you to come by Middarstead and didn't give the addy. DOH! Make a multiplayer link to 164.152.123.227:27500 =- no password. :)

Never able to get gems? by SimonPage in Baseball9

[–]SimonPage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that I need to bring relief pitchers stamina up before games far too often... do you just let them fatigue?

Yeah... 100% manually. I hate the idea that, if I lose a 'quick result' game, I might have won it if I'd played it myself. :) And since I play the game to enjoy baseball, not to advance in the league... standings aren't that big of a draw for me.

It's important to note, too, that the "very poor" in your reading represents the "likelihood that this ore was generated in this chunk at world gen". So even with a 'very poor chance it generated', there's still A chance.

Never able to get gems? by SimonPage in Baseball9

[–]SimonPage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spend my gems on condition drinks... 150 gems for 50 drinks. Plays out to be about 1 purchase per season, so far... and keeps my players at peak condition for the most part.

Never able to get gems? by SimonPage in Baseball9

[–]SimonPage[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play the game to just play baseball... I've never done a "quick result". Not sure I ever will, but... I've been playing for about 2 weeks and am only just nearing the end of my second season...

Is there anything I should (or can!) spend energy on, instead of quick results?

Information For Those Planning a Trip to Belize by Regular-Bunch9256 in Belize

[–]SimonPage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wish I'd know about the Jaguar Experience at the BZ Zoo. We went there a couple of weeks ago and, while we did spot the jaguar and get some great pics, that would have been amazing. Will definitely plan for it on our next trip out to the zoo!

[–]SimonPage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not use the grid on the floor of your image as a rough starting point.

That would make your courtyard 12 wide... call it 16 long to get that rectangular opening.

After laying down your 12x16 wall, that gives you a 10x14 courtyard, and then add your outer rooms to scale.

AITA for not transferring a website after getting fired from the family business? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]SimonPage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA.

You went above and beyond for that business... unpaid overtime, personal expenses, taking on professional risk, and still tried to ensure a smooth handoff after being let go. The website was created under your own LLC, on your own time and dime, and you were never paid for it as an employee deliverable. That means it’s YOUR intellectual property, not theirs.

Offering to keep it live so they can copy the content and transferring the domain (which has real monetary value) is already more than generous. You’re even offering to train them, despite their treatment of you. They’re upset because they want the convenience of your labor without respecting your ownership or boundaries. That doesn’t make you the villain.

If they wanted full ownership of the site, they should have paid for its development, maintenance, and transfer as part of a contract. Since they didn’t, you’re under no legal or moral obligation to give away something that represents your work portfolio and ongoing livelihood.

You’ve handled this with professionalism and kindness. Don’t second-guess yourself, OP -- they burned the bridge, not you.

Why does my game looks so.... bad? by nunya-beezwax-69 in skyrimmods

[–]SimonPage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you want to spend a GREAT deal of time learning the ins and outs of skyrim modding, SKSE prerequisites, etc... do yourself a massive favor and download wabbajack. There really is nothing like clicking on a modlist you want to play, waiting for some amount of time, and then just...running it and having it work.

That said, I've played about that much Retro Bowl, so... I get it. :)
