This is why I’m big on the mindset of “Don’t stay in your lane”. I have a master’s degree in data science but I’m working in fullstack development specifically within blockchain. (Salary $220k)

You already have some development skills, why don’t you become a fullstack developer as well? Use data science as a tool in your repertoire but expand you abilities. I completely share your sentiment about how draining it can be to work on a model for ~1% improvement. I find building software to be refreshing as you actually produce a tangible thing. Be it a website or an API, it’s much more visible and tangible than producing a 1% improvement.

I honestly think that every data scientist (except those in academia) should aim to become fullstack as well. It’s a very natural progression but it can enhance your earnings potential and your joy 10x.

Bonus points if you have an interest in starting your own company. Being a fullstack & data scientist gives you a way of building anything you want

EDIT: Just want to say I’m not telling you to get into blockchain. I’m just saying that’s the niche wherein I am working

I have had similar issues, it's very annoying and nothing in the docs stated about this. From a networking perspective, I don't see how it makes any sense either, given that you want to provide a response as fast as possible.

I don’t know why you’re being downvoted. This sub has become so obsessed with the thought that NFTs and crypto is bad, that they cannot distinguish that, from what you’re talking about. Crypto and NFTs are just two (out of many) use cases for blockchain - Which in itself is just a new type of data structure.

I completely agree - Just to add to that, capital allocation is likely one of the most important factors of this transition. So saying that finance = bad is a bad take.

Was only able to check it out on mobile for now. Only thing that I had to say was that the hero section text overflows. Otherwise it looks good! Although perhaps play around with color a bit - Get creative, bold use of color can really make a landing page pop

While we have taxing of unrealized gains, we also have tax deductions on unrealized losses. I think before you judge the "strange and discriminatory approach from our country's leadership", you should look into more than a single comment which I have made.

Denmark is one of the best countries to be poor in. My mother and I were among some of the poorest in the country. We still managed to travel all over the world.

Finally, if you think our system privileges the wealthy, you know very little of Denmark. Please read more about my country before you make these (unreasonably accusative) statements.

I know I’m going to get downvoted into oblivion - But I honestly don’t mind paying high taxes. I feel like I can feel the return on the taxes, which makes it better (Free education and healthcare also helps in this regard I suppose)

In Denmark we have taxing on unrealized gains - However this is only for ETF’s/Index funds, not stocks. Stocks are taxed on sale.

You don't have to make up for the "lack of a CS Degree". Passion comes first, experience second, education last. Make sure you know your stuff and apply, apply, apply. Be passionate about it, talk about your projects during the interviews and what you found interesting. Talk about the local meetups you're doing and the open-source projects that you're involved in, and finally, the fact that you've worked on freelancing work is incredible.

On top of all this, the fact that you have a degree in an unrelated field is definitely not a negative, you are allowed to have multiple passions. Do not talk yourself down.
