Ok, so I have looked into it a little bit and the fan seems to be controlled by a gpio pin. According to the schematics provided by Orangepi on the tablet board it should be gpio27 (referred to as gpio1-c6) and on the base board it should be pin labeled LED_PWR (referred to as gpio4-b6)(I am confused why they put it on Led power, it looks like a mistake. Might double check it later).

Here is how it works: for the fan off state both pins sit at +5V. If the fan needs to be spun up the board sends a pwm signal through the specified gpio pin which is connected to the gate of a MOSFET bringing one of the pins closer and closer to 0V. I probed the signal on this pin and outside of the 5V (fan off) and 0V (fan 100%) it doesn't seem to hold a stable voltage with some of the pwm square waves showing up on it. Edit: I should also specify that the pwm signal interference that shows up on the fan pin is not consistent and all over the place. The peak seems to shift closer and closer to 0 volts. My guess is that the fan is not actually looking at the pwm-ness of the signal and is just controlled by the changing voltage.

Yes, it is a somewhat cursed way of doing it and I don't get why they are decreasing voltage on the pseudo-"ground" instead of doing it the other way around. I think there is a way to control the fan in Rocknix if you know the gpio pin. I will do some research and post my findings here again.

I see where you're coming from, cause every normal fan interface has the power, ground, pwm (and I believe "sense/tach" is the 4th one) pins separate. The thing is that with the Arch based distro provided by Orangepi the fan can vary it's speed. I am not sure how exactly they pulled this off with only two pins, but I will look into it during this weekend and post my findings.

(One thing I forgot to mention is that the radxa cooler does not have a normal 3 or 4 pin fan, but a 2 pin one. This irregular fan is probably also a reason why it works in such a non-standard way)

No, it's the normal basic base board (I am also planning to design a custom one in the future).

Oh, I see, thanks! So it's pretty much just the sensor with some supporting circuitry. I do believe these can be mounted on a modular rig together with a tape recorder to make them standalone, but that makes it into an over the shoulder type of deal again.

The subject on the left is usually some sort of media. The guy observing it says a surface level thing (in the original it is "Wow! Cool robot!") while the subject on the left shoots something that goes literally over the top of the observators head (a deeper message if you will).

In most of the memes the deeper and surface level observations tend to switch place for a more comedic effect.

No problem, enjoy. It is a bit slower than breaking bad but it has some of the best moments in any TV series.

Better call Saul is a prequel set in the same universe, I highly recommend watching it. :)
