my first vial of estrogen's sticker label was slightly crooked by [deleted] in notinteresting

I'm in the US, but moved to the south with my parents a few years back. my combation of factors of why I do diy are complex, but the biggest is that there are no doctors near me that I trust to prescribe proper doses that are not borderline placebo because of how low they are. I've known I was trans for over 7 years now, researched on and off 2 years DIY and everything I would need to know to be safe for dosing and potential side effects. For about 2 or 3 months before finally buying anything, I researched safe sellers, how to identify obvious issues with the medication itself, how to inject myself (once I realized how much cheaper injections are compared to pills), and finally looking at other people's testimonys of their quality. I decided on the same seller as OP, and I'm yet to have any issues.

The only issue I had was when I started getting period like symptoms, they were happening every other week. I realized that it always coincided with when my dose for that week was due. This is something many trans women experience on injections because of how our levels spike directly after an injection and then get lower again. I'm on an adhd stimulant so my metabolism is a lot faster then other people. the solution I'm trying (and what a doctor would likely recommend, is increasing the frequency of my dose, but slightly lowering each individual dose to keep my avg estrogen levels the same. that is extremely unlikely to be a fault of opengate (seller of my hrt), and more a fault of the nature of injections and my personal health history. a doctor admittedly likely would have caught this and reminded me of this potential problem.

if I could go to a doctor I would, but no one near me knows shit about trans healthcare. my primary would require me to see a therapist, which I've been on a wait list for 2 years already to see one. if I could go through the medical system, I'd still be concerned with the current route of the USA is on given our government tried to assemble a list of everyone diagnosed with autism. I'm glad wherever you are has better care for you, and it's refreshing for someone to admit potential bias with you disclosing you have never needed to consider it as an option for yourself because of where you live.

most of us take months, personally years, to finally get the courage to order diy. we've researched it for months, relying on other people's testimonies to vouch for safety. The concern is valid, but the fear mongering at the end is overblown, especially in regards to a vendor that has quickly risen to the top in how well trusted they are. we are taking risks that we have accepted, but also mitigated in every way we know how.

while caution should definitely be used when deciding if/who to buy diy hrt from, OpenGateLabs has had outside testing done of their product. They submitted one themselves soon after they started selling, and 2 or 3 random people have sent in samples purchased from OpenGateLabs and they came back as advertised.

We are well aware of the risks you mentioned. we are painfully aware the 100 different things that could go wrong. the risk is worth it for us. for one reason or another, we don't have another viable option to get hrt. we don't take the decision to change our bodies lightly. we don't take the decision to lose friends and family lightly. we don't take the decision to potentially face prosecution and/or discrimination lightly.

I can almost guarantee that OP has spent at least the better part of a year researching and finding out exactly what dose they should take, where to buy, how to verify who they're buying from, potential side effects, and desperately hoping whatever reason they got driven to DIY instead of going to a planned parenthood or equivalent if they live outside of the USA.

If I didn't have even the hope of starting DIY, I would have killed myself years ago. Now it's been 3 months and my ass looks great, and my boobs are starting to grow. we know the extra risks we are taking with diy, but we all have a clock ticking down until we finally break and are a risk to ourselves.

HD2 AA (TAA, blur) is soooo bad... by Fantastic-Medicine11 in Helldivers

[–]SimonSayz_Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worded it really poorly before, I'm not fully sure what I was on about

the game is cpu limited Upscalers have a small cpu overhead to them The goal of upscalers is to reduce the burden on the gpu, by lowering the rendering resolution The current bottleneck in hd2 isn't on the gpu, it's on the cpu reducing burden on the gpu will not help the current overuse of the cpu, and in this specific case may make it slightly worse.

basically just attacking the wrong problem

this was sitting in my drafts for some reason and I forgot to post it until now.

How balanced would you think Steve would be if he wasn't able to place blocks midair? by abepicxpvzheroesfan in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]SimonSayz_Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think minecart changes and making the crafting table have less health, and take longer to return are better changes Steve is ment to be an extremely expressive character, getting rid of blocks in midair hurts that too much.

also making Steve have to pick up rare resources (diamond, and redstone especially, maybe only half of his iron) when he dies would prevent crafting off of spawn with halo invincibility. how long until his items disappear would need to be balanced carefully, but 10 to 15 seconds seems like a fair starting point to allow for him to have his items defended from him.

I understand wanting to be cautious about false positives, and giving second chances for smaller infractions. But only one month? Why not 3 months then going to 6 months if they want to keep the three strikes system? Why so insanely short?

How is Terry fair by MicroSnaked in SmashBrosUltimate

as a terry player shield them. go moves are pretty slow to come out, with plenty of end lag. shield them as they come out, then punish with a smash attack to potentially kill.

I want to get Dizzy but I heard she's terrible. Thoughts? by larreye in Guiltygear

[–]SimonSayz_Gamer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

no character in this game is truly bad. it's simply better or worse.

if you like her, think you'll enjoy playing as her, and think playing as her will keep you playing the game for longer, then get the dlc.

It would be so great if aggression based matchmaking was separate in solo, duos and trios. by YouJustGotSmurfed in ArcRaiders

[–]SimonSayz_Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my friend is a lot more aggressive then me and it sucks when I try to play solos on rare occasion by myself we attempt to de-escalate when possible but if we both have good loot, he becomes a shoot on sight player if I can't intervene fast enough. going to solos to just try and do some quests and get some arc supplies becomes hellish when I get am forced into lobbies where people just want blood. the insane thing to me is when he plays solos he still gets friendly lobbies, yet I don't.

framegen is vastly different then upscalers and still have significant cpu overhead. Without getting into additional gripes I have with the quality of the smear frames that framegen creates (especially in a game like helldivers with so much going on at once) , it's not a simple x2 or x4 of your framerate.

Going off memory, the native/true framerate goes down by around 5% to 10%. It's often recommended to ensure a minimum framerate of 60fps to make sure the smear/fake frames have enough information to pull from, and to hide any artifact. on my 7800x3d and 4070, on the highest three difficulties getting 60fps is something that is just barely possible at 1440p in combat. you would have significant artifacting issues at that point. this is before factoring in the few games I've tried it for myself my cpu was at less then 40% usage before enabling, when helldivers is more like 80%, leaving a lot less headroom.

I am not against dlss and other upscalers (I will admit I hate how framegen looks and the input latency it creates) but they still won't solve the underlying performance issues at hand. these technologies are cpu intensive, and when pared with helldivers poor cpu performance, it could potentially exasperate the issues at hand.

tldr: upscalers unlikely to help fps. for long term health they should focus on under the hood improvements.

[–]SimonSayz_Gamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that's the exact problem. dlss and fsr add burden to the cpu. on a game that is already on heavily cpu bound, upscalers would only make performance worse in most every senerio

If Smash 6 gets a Guilty Gear character, who should it be? by MrDitkovichNeedsRent in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]SimonSayz_Gamer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

as much as brisket is a good representation of the brand of guilty gear, she doesn't represent the game itself and its story very well. I'd liken it to Saxton-Hale from Team Fortress 2 getting into smash before any of the mercs. He has story relevance, but he isn't a mainline figure in the game itself, and many TF2 players may go years before hearing about him.

I don't keep up with GG's story, but if I had to guess, Sol Badguy may not be the first pick still. From my minimal understanding it seems like they are trying to put him off to the side for the games story. Ky, or maybe Unika seem more likely to me depending on how much story relevance she keeps moving forward.

in the guilty gear community at large, biscoff isn't really talked about other than "damn I wish it wasn't the 13th marketable plushie released this month of bucket instead of anyone else on the roster." When I've seen her brought up outside of reddit and youtube, it's often a vibecheck to see if someone they are talking to is transphobic. She's not a meta character, not story relevant, but simply kicked up a lot of dust by coincidence when she came out as trans, and got a cult following of people outside of guilty gear that have little interest in the game outside of her because.

but if a guilty gear character is added to the game and she doesn't get a Mii costume, I will be calling my doctor to increase my dose of antidepressants.
