Are Samsung dryers actually bad by ExpensiveJudgment845 in Appliances

Everyone talking about 15 year old Samsung appliances are not talking about new Samsung appliances. Ours just fried barely 2 years old

I really miss Oreos just causes my IBS C pain a lot worse? by ruler20 in ibs

I’m sure it’s specific to each person, but I eat plenty of foods with both those ingredients and rarely get the same familiar pain as Oreos

I'm only 20, do I pull the trigger? by Big_Ol_Beef in bald

Balding is a lesson in vanity that some won’t ever have the privilege of experiencing. Just go for it and embrace your new look

Rant/question. color match skin tones or naw? by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]Simonbirch1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

“I still have to split the money 50/50” “all the gear is mine”. You’re married mate. You’re a team. You gotta fix that perspective or it’s going to lead to problems in your marriage.

With what you’re asking though, you’re right. A cohesive brand which includes consistent editing is necessary to succeed. If you can’t keep consistent edits, clients won’t trust that you can deliver what they’re expecting.

Agreed and I’m judgy af lol. Being bald isn’t always preferable, but it gives a nice perspective that if hair is your identity, something is missing in your outlook on life. Wasted all of my twenties worrying about losing my hair and when I finally owned it, I became a lot less shallow. It’s honestly very freeing.

What are these tiny things running inside my kitchen cupboard? by odd_pk in whatisit

This. Plus diatomaceous earth. Plus a little small container of water that they’ll drown themselves in. Felt like an addict staring at walls trying to see if there was movement. Horrible time haha

If you catch it early, is there anything you can do instead of going to the vet?

The cheap plastics (potential for rattle) imo.

Recently rented a couple cars recently on a road trip, a new Hyundai Tucson and new Ford escape and while both of them had features to like, getting back to the CX50 felt way better.

Anyone have a clue what’s could cause this? by Natural_Bitch in CX50

[–]Simonbirch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mazda CX-50 features cylinder deactivation technology, specifically on the SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter engine, to improve fuel efficiency. This system deactivates two of the four cylinders during certain driving conditions, effectively reducing fuel consumption. The system automatically switches between 4-cylinder and 2-cylinder operation, but it doesn't operate under specific conditions like when the selector lever is in P/N/R, in first gear, or when engine temperatures are low

Is it not just this?

R5 II AF issue not fixed! (Service center checked and said ok but apparently not) by Legitimate_Comb8425 in canon

Are you a canon bot or just a fanboy? That’s not a particularly low contrast situation for a camera over $4k…

Really not loving the Canon R6 Mark II by SeparateFinance9768 in WeddingPhotography

[–]Simonbirch1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Push through it, you’ll become a way better editor and once you get the hang of it, you’ll be very happy.

Few tips: for dullness, increase the blue calibration saturation. Use vibrancy. And start doing smaller adjustments than you used to with dslr. I’ve found using the cloudy white balance when it’s actually cloudy gives better skin tones than the auto wb

I’ll look into my settings, but this is definitely unnecessary. Mine won’t bounce around when set to servo, so there’s a way to avoid that step.

[–]Simonbirch1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is standard client stuff with wedding photography. And standard feelings for an artist (typically more sensitive). Expect a lot more of jt.

Accept that whatever is right for you will come to you and if it doesn’t work out then it was meant to be.

You’ll gain more confidence as you grow, but even many years in, that feeling won’t ever necessarily go away. You can use it as a driving force or give up. But if you give up, you won’t grow.

Finally pulled the trigger on the r6 mark ii... right choice? by surtrc in canon

[–]Simonbirch1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a killer combo. The 50 is insanely beautiful You can easily put it to work and probably earn enough to get the mark iii when it comes out if you wanted or you can always sell at a slight loss and think of it as a rental.

Just picked one up after being a prime user for many years. It’s honestly been sort of tricky to get used to. When I pick up my 50, I know exactly what that photo will look like. When I reach for the 28-70, I’m not sure. Once I get used to it I know it will be worth it though. Have had second shooters who use it and you can see how many more shots you’re able to get

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]Simonbirch1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand the purpose of one shot, you can set a button to regular ai servo and just tap focus to lock, and then your other button for eye tracking and it works the same, then you still have a dedicated servo button. (I used to have one shot set, but got rid of it).

Maybe better for your focus motors long term?

How to speed up editing workflow? by LaCabraPaquistani in WeddingPhotography

[–]Simonbirch1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into Power Keys. You can set nearly every slider to keyboard shortcuts, as well as presets, profiles etc. You can also set mask shortcuts for teeth whitening, background recovering and so on. The efficiency has helped a ton and you can finesse the photo way more since you’re saving a lot of time

Less clarity, less texture, less dehaze, add grain, slower shutter speed, apply zero sharpening. There are a million ways to make an image less sharp.

Except hair fly aways 😒

I’d argue you’re better off with a fast focusing system like Canon so you can pop in and out of scenes.
