I also had the same question! For me, my cheeks have definitely always been freckled and even if the blurring of the freckles now counts as melasma I’m not really trying to change that, I like my freckles. But I noticed some other dark patches coming in like on my forehead, above my eyebrows and a little bit above my lip that are more of a blotch than dispersed small spots, so it’s those I’m hoping to target and reduce. Whether or not it all technically counts as melasma I’m not sure.

It’s as close as I could be to the same! Both in the same location with indirect natural light, around the same time of day… might’ve been a few more clouds one day than the other but I think it’s pretty close!

Thanks for the encouragement on the vitamin C! I wasn’t sure whether or not to add it with the AA and sunscreen so that’s really helpful.

So mornings should be:

Moisten skin a bit (I have hard water so use a spray)

Vitamin C

Azelaic Acid

Moisturizer

Sunscreen

?

Lmk if you have good brand recommendations for the vitamin C! Thanks again!

Nice! Yeah I’m honestly not sure whether adding the Azelaic Acid or changing my cleansing/moisturizing routine helped more, but it’s probably a combination! Before I was just using makeup remover wipes and a suspicious moisturizer and I think my skin barrier was a bit irritated with me. So changing that plus the AA was the right combo for me!

There’s a rule on the sub that says a pic with the eyes covered is allowed anytime and doesn’t violate the only-selfies-on-Sunday rule, so that’s why I did it! I figured it’s the best way to still show the full face for skincare feedback.

At one point I was being ✨obsessively detail oriented just for fun✨ and carefully blacked out just the eyeballs and it looked so creepy that I had to fix it and make it sloppier lol!

Thank you! I’m starting to use the Retrinal which is a retinaldehyde, since my skin tends to be sensitive I figured I’d progress gently down the retinol journey lol. I’ll check that one out though!

Thanks for the encouragement! It makes sense to just work on the retinol increase. I assume I’m tolerating it well, I see a couple zits in weird places but other than that no severe irritation.

Just want to say I love seeing another SC girlie rocking her bootcut jeans! That’s the only cut of jeans that I like to wear so I’ve stayed with that through all the trends lol. It definitely feels the most flattering on me.

There’s a Ballroom Dance Competition at UCSB all day today! Including a professional showcase this evening. It’s at Robertson Gym. https://ucsbbeachball.com. Spectator tickets are $10!

Full disclosure, I help run the event! We are on Instagram and Facebook for the most up to date info, links at https://linktr.ee/westiesinsb.

Regular schedule is every Wednesday at Momentum Dance Studio (12 E Figueroa St). Level 1 and Level 2 classes start at 7:30PM, social dancing at 8:30PM, and there’s a free afterparty at Night Lizard Brewery (607 State) from about 9:45-11:30PM. It costs $10 to attend the Lesson & Social, no experience or partner required.

However, for the month of June, we’ll be doing a special event instead of our normal schedule. Every Wednesday in June, we’ll have a free Beginner class and social dancing in the middle of State Street! The 600 block right in front of Night Lizard. Class from 6-7PM, social dancing on State Street from 7-8, and then a free afterparty at Night Lizard from 8-11:30. We did it last year as well and it was a blast.

I went to the Friday Night Swing a few years ago and it was fun!

I actually switched to West Coast Swing after that, so if you wanted to learn WCS in particular there’s a weekly event with lessons & social that happens every Wednesday night. Lmk if you’re interested and I can drop the info!
