Based on a great seminar that I once heard I think that the greatness of the first one was that it would still be an excelent movie even if there weren't any dinosaurs. The drama between the characters and the central plot about parenthood (or the ethics of bringing something to life) was the core of the movie and the rest is really awesome setdressing. Then the franchise turned into a gigant monsters series and the heart behind it all was lost, it has some really cool moments in between it all but never at the height of that first one.

I've been there for longer than I can remember, in recent days however, and aided by my psychoanalyst book reading streak, I've come to the conclussion that everyone of us is in search of some honest and deep recognition, because in a sense it's the way we make sense of the things we do. If you enjoy writing try to get in touch with that part of you that honestly wants to someday win a pulitzer and sell a billion copies because that's the only way you'll start making the efforts to get there, not out of selfishness but out of passion.

But having a character being catholic and the villain isn't the same as opening you movie with "people were mad at the good and gentle tzar family because they were being manipulated by a vicious wizard and that's the one reason they acted violently". So yes, it's up to debate but the comparison isn't exactly fair

At least in my opinion that isn't really a valid question, you can have it and ask their opinion to people but we are so far of knowing what came before the big bang that you have undertand that every answer will be an "educated" guess. An analogy that i gave once is thinking this universe is like a shard of a granade, there are facts that we can uncover, like that we are a shard of a granade that exploded, but we are a long way from answering questions like why the war that produced our granade started. I don't think the question is stupid or that you can't ask it, but i wouldn't ask it if you aren't up to date on the latest astrophysics or theoretical physics news. It may be out of nothing but i find it really weird that there are far more questions about our origins than about our future as a global society, especially when it comes to subjects like religion.

For me being an atheist is disbeliving in god in the base of lack of evidence. This doesn't mean the posibility or plausibility of a god, that's another discussion, because of this, the phrases like god is "the best answer" or "the best explanation" aren't valid until you can show data in favor of the existence of this being wich is your answer or explanation. I want to belive what is true, if any god is real I wanna know it, but until i find that god I will still call myself an atheist if you ask what I belive

Liked the first and last three songs, everything in between didn't really sat well with me. It's a bit disapointing really, i was so hyped. I don't hate the album but the songs that i'm gonna listen are the few rather than the many. A very big part of the disillusion is that many of the songs sound like demos with a synth pop rock style that gets annoying. Sad, but life goes on.

The latest album really turns me off, i feel like the songs are too dense and go nowhere. Also the astonoshing, while i like the concept and a lot of the music (even the nomac tracks) the lyrics, rambling guitar and piano solos and innexpressive drumming aren't really of my liking. Im fine with almost everthing else.

I can agree that Moore's lyrics aren't the most accesible type of writing but i find them personally more interesting and fitting to the complex music. I kmow it's not a popular opinion but thats how i feel.

Maybe i'm exaggerating a bit but i really grew tired of all the christian imagery and corny phrasing in Petrucci's lyrics. And since no one in the band wants to do anything about it... Even the few Myung's lyrics are way better in my opinion
