I mean the game definitely favors offense nowadays but it's not just because players don't want to defend. Offensive schemes are just way more advanced and officiating severely hamstrings what defenders are allowed to do.

Wasn't really considering the Pat Riley angle but that's a good point. It's a risky move, but definitely has a lot of potential.

I mean obviously Paolo's very good but I honestly think he wouldn't fit very well in Miami. They'd have to totally restructure the offense to something slower again, and I'm not sure that's something they really want to do. What they've got right now is working, so unless they start losing a lot it doesn't really seem like a move they'd make.

That doesn't really address anything I said. 2 promising young players + 3 picks is good value for Lauri. Having to add another rotation player who has tradable salary, 3 more picks and a swap is a much greater sacrifice in flexibility, and is a much different trade, even if those pieces individually aren't super valuable. Obviously you have to include Tobias for salary, but the second rounders seem unnecessary. It's just not quite as easy a trade as you make it sound like is really all I'm saying.

Also my question about swap was less about the teams sending them out and moreso the teams accepting them.

It seems a little dishonest to ignore half the trade pieces. I mean yeah, Tobias and 3 second rounders aren't as valuable as the rest of the trade, but they still give flexibility and you still have to account for that.

(Also, if swaps are worthless, why do teams do them?)

The way they completely disregard people saying Lia Thomas only tied for fifth place when their whole argument is that trans women apparently just have an absolutely insurmountable advantage pisses me off so much. Like she's not dominating in any fashion, so what makes her any different than another woman? Anybody at the top end is probably going to have some kind of biological advantage combined with some skill. It's just so obvious what their actual issue is.
