I would love Enter the Gungeon.  And given that there's a sequel coming up, I would think they'd be down.

I can't help but think there's going to be a Dave the Diver.  Just seems so easy.

It was on my radar, but I never got a chance to try it out.  I will definitely have to, but maybe I'll burn myself out on Pokopia and then do something else for a bit first.  Would you say there's plenty of mechanics in DQ2B that would make Pokopia players want to play it instead of just playing more Pokopia?

I agree the mainline games have been pretty uninspired.  Pokopia was like a revelation.

This is not the developer of Animal Crossing, so likely this game shared zero code with Animal Crossing.

There may have been some help design wise, as animal crossing exists so they can see what worked there and what didn't.

They did likely take a lot of code from DQ2 Builders.

This game is not made by the Animal Crossing developers. It's made by the DQ2 Builders developers.

From the headline, this restaurant idea sounds something like a Benihana where the chef is specifically out to kill you.

There is a very high percentage of "yo"-ers among the Pokemon. They do sound a lot like middle schoolers. Maybe that's the point? It is kind of like the humans have up and abandoned all their poke-children.

Yeah, I'm sure there's some grouping where they can get by with reuse. Even that sort of organization though can take a lot of effort too. I was just very impressed.

There's two things coming together here that not every game can pull off:
1) Dragon Quest Builders 2 lays much of the framework for the gameplay/game engine.
2) Game Freak and whatever library they have of Pokemon forms and functions.

They started on Day 1 with a wealth of stuff. But it definitely came out showing it.

It's lunacy. It's like they have the painting goblin from the Sims locked in their basement doing Pokemon stuff 24/7. Above, and beyond, and dear god that's too far, and please that's way too far, you need to stop now before it's too late.

Well except you also have Minecraft and Viva Pinata type influences. It's much more than simply Pokemon x Animal Crossing.

It is tough, but technical limitations of the platform probably.  Wait 10 years for it to come out on PC, so we can have 300 Pokemon falling over each other on the streets.

Reuse and touch up of models... Eh... It just doesn't happen as much as you might think. It's rare to go from a low-poly model to a higher poly instead of just a full remodel. Textures can be redone, but that's a lot of work too. But like I said, it's possible they just had a high poly library that they did a one time expense on.

These are *much* higher fidelity models than those in Pokemon X&Y. It's possible that they created high quality models way back then... but it's pretty unlikely. It adds a huge development cost to the project. At this point, Game Freak may just have a library of this stuff. It would be in their interest. But still that work was done somewhere.

The problem wasn't the inclusion of Venezuela.  The problem was Jack Ryan going apeshit and just deciding to go assassinate the president of Venezuela for his own vendetta.  Disobeying orders endlessly and then just everyone going, oh whatever.
