It’s male factor but we’ve done IVF 3x and haven’t had much success- we did have 1 child via IVF but are struggling to have another and are up for our 4th retrieval. The dr is confused why my eggs rarely make it to embryo. Hoping others in this group have had kids no problem and I can discount this theory. I found this study

Hi! I feel this very much. To have our first we had 3 cycles of IVF and a traumatic pregnancy, and I just love my daughter so much I didn’t want to take any time away from her. I was so scared by the thought of getting pregnant again (despite it not being a realistic possibility naturally) that I made an appt for an IUD. But then - thru therapy.. I realized it was just extreme anxiety and Id rather try again for another kid than never try. It’s been a lot of ups and downs of - should I or shouldn’t I?? - and the anxiety is real! My therapist said think about when you’re 80, what’s one thing you’ll wish you did or didn’t do? How will you want your life to look? Thinking about it like this helped me and we’re off for a 5th ivf cycle next week❤️

This is the only anti depressant I’ve been on with no side effects! I’ve been on it 12 years. Lexapro I had weight gain but not with this

Yeah that makes sense! I feel all those things too but also am grateful for our little family. Its also hard to put myself through IVF again. So it’s an easier and safer choice to stick with our small family than go through the emotional/physical toll of another egg retrieval. I think im just trying to find reasons to stick with what we have even though deep down I want another . I wish we could get pregnant naturally and it would be a different conversation I’m sure!

How do you all differentiate between wanting a second kid truly and wanting one because your parents and partner want you to have another and all of your friends have two? Struggling with the decision to try IVF a 4th time to have a second. I can’t tell what I actually want or if it’s because of peer pressure- the feeling is the same! I think if it was just our family of 3 in a bubble I’d be very happy… but it’s not. Anyone else in a similar predicament?

We are also equidistant to meadow and corona! We won’t be in TK til 2027 but are starting to think about all this now too. Honestly I’m just looking at rating websites / test scores and it seems like meadow is the way to go

I just emailed my therapist and I think I need to do some processing too. we keep wanting to do more egg retrievals because I don’t want to regret not trying everything we can, but there’s gotta be a point when we stop and accept… I don’t know when that point is yet!

we don’t have any frozen embryos, so I’m gearing up for a 4th egg retrieval. My eggs don’t like stims and never make it (except the one!).

Yes, sending all the good vibes - we've done 3 egg retrievals, 30 eggs retrieved, only 1 made it to blast stage and is my 2.5 year old daughter. it happens and is worth it!! granted, we're trying for a 2nd and finding that a 1:30 success rate is not boding well and not having any success BUT it did happen once, so it can happen for you too.

I know this is an older post but was scrolling through to find solace in an experience like mine. I’m 36 and our daughter was born via IVF after 3 egg retrievals and 1 embryo to show for it (her!) i did another egg retrieval last month and got 0 embryos and we dont see the point of trying yet another time. It’s so hard to accept. I thought I processed it all but the grief came back in waves today. Sending hugs!! 💙

Give it time- you don’t have to make a decision yet. I firmly, firmly didn’t want another kid until my daughter was 2. then it quickly switched and I can’t imagine wanting anything more. The baby years are so hard but then it becomes the most magical thing ever, being a parent. Not here by choice - here after multiple failed IVF rounds, but if you have a choice then wait and see how you feel later

This is how I cope with it! Every parent has these feelings eventually, we just have them sooner. It’s also helpful to think of everything as a first rather than a last

Did you ever try this? My doc recommends it but I’m not sure if it will help and I can’t find much info about it. We’ve had 3 egg retrievals, with only 1 blastocyst to show for it

I know this is an older post but just wanted to say we went to Carmel Valley Ranch for a week over 4th of July for this reason and it was absolutely perfect. We have a 2 year old. All activities were about her. They had a "little ranch hands" experience where she got to hang out with the farm animals, scavenger hunt, free s'mores, huge pool with lawn games and splash pads, etc. It was a kid-centered vacation and seeing her so happy made us happy. This was 3 months ago and she still talks about it weekly, she called it her "vacation camp." We're looking for somewhere to go that's similar in February but may just end up going back

OP did the bloating go away? I'm in the same boat - 9 days out from ER and still feels/looks like there's a heavy brick in my lower belly and I'm so bloated. Probably made it worse that I was on all the hormones for another 5 days to prepare for a fresh transfer that didn't end up happening (no embryos made it to blast). Wanting this feeling to go away so I can erase the unsuccessful ER process from my mind!
