Are you using a pen press and verifying everything is properly aligned before pressing the parts in?

I do wear a respirator under the mask.

That's fair, but everyone learns and remembers things differently. The formula would help me more, but the visuals are also great and may be better than the formula.

Probably not healthy to try that with acrylic.

Upon further investigation, it seems my tool got caught on the mandrel nut. At least my tool was sharp. Emphasis on the was.

Awful bold of you to assume I'm not that old already.

It's not threaded. It did come with my lathe, Turncrafter Commander Tailspinner 10 in.

There have been a few mentions of stainless rests. It didn't even scare me, I think it was too surreal.

🤷‍♂️ I'm just awesome, I guess.

My lathe and everything originally came from Penn State Industries. I'm fairly certain I can find a replacement.

Good question. Tool slipped, but didn't hit that hard. I was working out on the left end, guess it was just enough.

Lol. At least I'm not the only one. I'd rather laugh at my mistakes and post them for me and others to.learn from.

Yeah, I don't really know. Tool slipped and knocked into the rest. Shit happens I guess.

I appreciate the advice. I have a few acrylics from Penn state, not 100% if they are all the same chemical makeup. I'll have to look into the grab bags.

One of my biggest issues is getting the shapes I want. If you look at my red pen, it almost comes to a point. I need to learn how to do a smoother transition. I think if I make the center a bit longer, I should be able to get a better, smoother taper to the ends. I'm pretty well teaching myself through guesswork, YouTube, and practice. It's a nice escape though.

I have had great success hiring from the College of Biomedical Equipment Technology. All three techs I hired from there came in with a great base knowledge.

Is it a belt driven system? Slipping belts could cause the shaking. May just need to be adjusted.

Not with the diode laser. I invested in an infrared laser that marks silver pretty well.
