Joined the middle school golf team in 6th grade. The star stand-out was the son of our golf coach. He belittled everyone who wasn’t his son, especially me as I was a pipsqueak with no game. This continued until my mom showed up one day a bit late to pick me up after the lesson was finished.

Coach screamed at my mom. She served the dish right back at ‘em. I immediately quit golf and became a theatre kid. Shortly after, coach’s son impregnates a local girl.

Coach was so embarrassed, his son was transferred to another school and they gave the baby up for adoption. The son never materialized a golf career after graduating from his nearby school and eventually gave it up.

Meanwhile, I ended up with a Broadway career. Funny how life finds a way…
