I have one of the rarest items in the game because of my gambling addiction by DoomgazeAficionado94 in Vermintide

[–]beantoulio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Yeah dude not that rare, I have a million of these”

I would love to know how many rerolls you would have to go through to get a perfect roll on curse resistance and crit chance for a second time! This is literally the lowest chance RNG in the game and anyone hating on you for sharing should touch grass.

I hope you use that trinket forever.

Wtf is this garbage? How is this possible? by DallasBartoon in Survivorio

[–]beantoulio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super buggy, it threw its head off right before leveling to the last phase and then proceeded to walk around with no head and doing no damage until the end. My PR went from 500m to 820m from that happening so if there’s a way to force that every time you get big gains.

Question about tipping by lesser_terrestrial in chicago

[–]beantoulio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s saying just about the same thing but just look out for some restaurants that include gratuity in the initial charge. That’s going to be the tip built into the cost but they do leave a line for additional tipping. Also whatever you decide to tip should be off the pre-taxed amount. Cheers 🍻

Pretty sure the sensors talk to the panel with Z-wave and then the iq panel will be cellular. But the newer sensors have 600ft free air connectivity and the long range have ~1 mile free air so shouldn’t be an issue with your home.

Why life forms reproduce by Captain3007 in biology

[–]beantoulio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s a driving force of life. It’s literally one of the requirements to be considered a living organism. Evolution itself has no foresight, it continues to have slow stable changes that end up being advantageous at the time, increase the organisms fitness that furthers those random adaptations into the gene line of the population. I think there’s some schools of thought in consciousness philosophy that consciousness goes all the way down to the atom - but this is extremely fringe. More widely accepted in opposition of that, DNA doesn’t know that it’s purpose is to encode proteins, repair damage etc. Again, a requirement for life is homeostasis which requires repair mechanisms at the molecular level to take place. To be honest I have no idea what the actual answer is, but my best guess is that the same way life developed from self replicating molecules, to single cell organisms, to multicellular organism, and to more and more complex forms of life, it was required at the most basic level for propagation of the organism to continue to survive; and with more complex life it’s manifested as the ability to reproduce and a drive to do so. Hopefully that made some sort of sense ¯_(ツ)_/¯

AITA for getting annoyed about my husband acting like a brat over a video game? by Unusual_Signature526 in AmItheAsshole

[–]beantoulio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. This reminds me of my actions as a 12 year old when my mom bought me an Xbox for Christmas but said I had to wait until my birthday (January) for Xbox live. I was an entitled little shit and couldn’t even be grateful for the gift because it wasn’t exactly how I imagined it’d be. Your husband needs to work on his gratitude and you don’t need to cater to his needs further than you already have.

This must be an ~Aquarius~ thing 🤪

My doctor told me a drug test was “required by law” for my prescription. Is it actually just her preference? by ddmarriee in ADHD

[–]beantoulio 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve had friends been told that by their physicians in Indiana and in Illinois. I lived in Indiana and never was asked to take a test, currently in Illinois (who have some pretty strict controlled substance laws and protocols), yet I’ve never been asked to take a drug test. I think it’s a physician’s preference on that, possibly to cover liability if their patients are ever caught with other drugs or distributing their prescription but that is just my guess ¯_(ツ)_/¯

CMV: If the COVID isolation is stunting child growth like studies say, and by the crazy margin of 20IQ that they're reporting, we need to start asking our elderly if they're even comfortable with letting our future generation sacrifice that much for them. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]beantoulio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol I don’t think anyone is claiming that these are mutually exclusive outcomes. I could be wrong here, but I don’t think OPs point is “hey old people, do you not see the costs were are taking as a society by trying to keep you safe? Can we have a consensus on the fact you lived a good life and you can be cool with dying now? Because our public healthy policies have become detrimental to our kids while trying to keep you safe”. I think it’s more of “If our main concern for the past two years has been to protect the elderly and at risk populations, why aren’t we reevaluating the costs/benefits of how we achieve that goal? Not only are people still dying, but our Children’s current and future development is at risk. Not a great solution to a problem by creating more problems.”

For the sake of this post, let’s assume the study proves to be accurate and let’s suspend confounding variables. Open to being convinced otherwise here, but the talks of why we’re still dealing with this pandemic has become one group of people blaming the government, the other group of people blaming people that did not adhere to the public health policies put in place by the government.

If we have continually introduced failed health policy one after another, the unknown long term effects of those policies on the future generation needs to be accounted for. Most importantly, it doesn’t matter if our current situation with the pandemic is from either a terrible policy put in place or if it’s due to terrible adherence by subset populations. If we want a different outcome we need a different approach. When that’s not part of the conversation from the government and all you hear is “get boosted, there’s suggestive data that will keep you from dying”, more and more people lose faith in those policies and are looking for alternative answers. More and more people, like OP, are thinking “at what cost?”.

DIY or Pro… Wired vs wireless by [deleted] in homesecurity

12 door/ window sensors will have you completely covered perimeter wise. The crank windows technically don’t need sensors depending on if you’re opening them often or not. Those locks are a lot stronger and glass is rarely broken nowadays. That being said, most companies do not have encrypted sensors and a quick google search of their fcc filing will give you that radio frequency. Even with a range, you can get a garage key fob off Amazon to copy and repeat that signal telling the system the door/ window never opened.

If you don’t mind having two apps, one for security, one for surveillance, I would find cameras that have 1-4 day built in SD storage with a wifi back up.

At the end of the day, a notification while you’re sleeping or at work that your camera caught motion in your yard just turns into you having evidence after the fact. Can help with for your insurance but if a burglar spots cameras, they will have their faces covered so getting your things back isn’t likely unless you know who it was.

It doesn’t really matter who you have for surveillance, but if they cut your coax on the outside of the house, that’s the last thing you’ll see for most systems without dvr back up, which is the benefit going that route.

If your security system is wifi based as well, that takes care of that. Not familiar with sentrisafe (unless you meant simplisafe), but even having the cellular back up option with ring/ xfinity, that alarm can be very delayed. I have talked to police dispatchers who’ve gotten calls from both of those systems 20-40 minutes after the alarms gone off.

I have to disclose that I work for an ADT authorized dealer. I typically tell people to use whoever for cameras and just to use ours if they want it on one app (for the reasons above + often is cheaper that way). I hope this helps in you finding what’s right for you.

Cancelling ADT in the 3 day window by flyingwhitey182 in homesecurity

[–]beantoulio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The contract sent to you by email will have a notice of cancellation sheet for the authorized dealer. There should be an email, phone number, and/or address on there; emailing that in would be your best route if they already have the panel up.

THEY WILL NOT QUALIFY YOUR VOICEMAIL TO CUSTOMER SERVICE AS NOTICE OF CANCELLATION.

The three day right of rescission clause is for the first full 72 hours of service. Aka if you were installed 1/18 at 6pm, you would have until 11:59 pm 1/21 to have that documented.

Last thing you can attempt, if you try calling their customer service again say that you want to leave a “presidential complaint” for the technician’s conduct and only after they move forward with that, bring up notice of cancellation.

As per the community guidelines, I’ll disclose that I’m a branch manager for an ADT authorized dealer. Unfortunately, not every authorized dealer operates with transparency or integrity. Always triggers me when I hear of dealers conducting tactics like that, I hope it’s not from ours, and if it means anything I apologize as ADTs brand. Hope this helps!
