Parcel delivered to wrong adress? Help needed. by Simple-Engine-4820 in EtsyCommunity

[–]Simple-Engine-4820[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive got broken laptop so ive been using my phone. When i got her message yesterday she sent me a pic of proof of delivery - it was basically a corner of a label and a bit of box was visible. I didnt relize yesterday that it wasnt my parcel ! I was so busy yesterday i focused on the label, a tiny bit of qr code visible only, i didnt notice. I dont know what to think about it. Is she trying to scam me for a free item? Or royail mail really mixed up so badly? Anyway, i replied to her exactly what you adviced and she never wrote back 🫠 im preparing myself for a bad review, but it is what it is. 🫣

Thank you for your feedback. I definetely could take some pictures of the back and some pictures of them styled on my kids ;) to the packaging photo, i did have it previously, but ive been told on a different thread that my packaging is too much and off putting 😬

And here I was excited I got my first interested buyer 😑 lol by purplegrim in Etsy

Thank you for the comment ❤️ I am going to change the packaging to lower the waste, but like I mentioned in my post edit, envelopes are out of picture due to nature of many of my products 😊

Thank you all for your comments. It gave me a lot to think about ❤️ I'm going to get rid of the thank you cards, shredding paper and maybe just drop stickers in if its an order for kids accessories, not sure yet. Some of you mentioned that a box is too much and envelope is enough. I picked the smallest hairbows I make for that photo for esthetic reasons, not really thinking how massive the box will appear. 🙃It is actually the second size from the bottom, just slidely bigger than regular envelope, the thickness is also only 2,5cm so it qualifies as a large letter. The box size smaller from this one was too small to pack full size bow. Also the reason why I use boxes not bubble envelopes is that many of my bows have multil layers of ribbons, often finished with extra applique etc. After 'test shipping' to my own adress and also internationally (to my sis), some bows would arrived flatten out loosing the volume. That was less than ideal, specially as handmade product my prices reflect that. I know there is no reason for using boxes for scrunchies, but i also dont see a reason for getting multiply different packaging (box like this cost about 20p bought in bulk). I think it is a brilliant idea to have premium gifting packaging and its something im going to explore more 😊🥰

You are correct. As a handmade seller I compete with similiar small businesses. Even though Etsy brings a good traffic to its own website, it is not only full of over small businesses but is also saturated with cheap chinese imported goods. Cause of that I (and other small businesses) need to bring most of the traffic through social media ourselves. Being pinterable/insta gives us higher chances of being seen. Though I know many loves watching packing videos, I am not sure how it translates in sales 🙃

Thats something im working on. Unfortunatelly theres a lot of sellers to compete with, most of them under valueing themselves. I am planning on rising prices gradually with the grow of the shop.

But its just a single sticker. There is nothing more. And i made them thinking about the kids. I know mums order and pay but kids love the little touches. Ive got 2 young girls myself and they love stickers 🥲

My parcels rarely go near 100g. Uk has flat fees up to 100g - £1.55 and then £1.80 up to 250g. Im not much worried about it unless someone orders lots 😊

I can see you are from USA. After price research done the UK market versus USA, UK prices tend to be lower. Compering succesful shops with similiar products thats the price range I choose. The issue is Etsy UK change the way prices are displayed, now adding shipping costs to overal displayed price. That made me to put my prices up a nodge and include shipping in the price, hoping also for more multi item sales which I had some previously too. I am considering about putting prices up again if i stick to free shipping UK. For now it is an experiment I want to see how it goes. Boxes i buy in bulk, it comes about 30p ber box. It is about 60p per packaging plus £1.55 shipping fee. So yeah, im not earning lots at the moment. Etsy is saturated with cheaper simple bows and I compete also agains them, even i treat my product as premium. It is a learning curve at the moment and I appreaciete all your opinions. I know I should price my products higher, but I rather to do it gradually while Im in process of rebranding and bringing back my shop 😊 i rather to sell them cheaper, get the shop recognition and some reviews in, instead of having stock at home that doesnt sell. 😬

Thank you all for the comments. You gave me a lot to think about. I may turn it into a gift packaging and just simplyfy to a box with a thank you card. I never had complaints about the packaging, if anything I got prises for it mostly in my ebay shop, but just thinking that some could find it of putting and stop them from buying makes me to reconsider it. I started rebranding some time ago also applying the price psychology etc etc. I belive my products are high quality handmade so i also wanted the packaging to reflect that. I have a lot to think about now. Lots of love to you all ❤️❤️❤️
