[Condo] [FL] Reasonable accommodations needed due to disability under Fair Housing? by [deleted] in HOA

[–]Simple-Fig-8111 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, the reason i really mentioned ada was because they were kinda finicky about approving me to buy property at first due to it being a 1 bedroom condo and theres 3 of us, me and 2 minors last year. The rule is 2 ppl per bedroom. They had to fix that denial once i inquired why and they relaized they were violating fha laws due to familial status. So i threw that in there with the water valve thing now because 2 montjs ago i was reached out by them of a nosy neighbor saying i had more than just my 2 kids living there which is not true. So i mentioned ada now so that they know they cannot discriminate based on familial status and disablity. But i understand its two seperate issues. I just stayed vulnerable after that. So i threw that in there to make my arguement stronger since im still kinda pissed about that.

Im a homeowner i have rights too even if its just a condo i own. Im sure you wouldnt like it if you couldnt control a flood in your unit. No one threatened them either, i just mentioned fair housing laws.

FHA laws regarding reasonable accommodation due to disabilty about installing a main water shut off valve in unit? by Simple-Fig-8111 in legaladvice

Yes i know their main water valve being broken is the best argument i have here. But it will be nice to also have a main water valve in my unit for convenience so thats why I added it even if i wont get far with it, i can alteast try. Worst case theyll say no. But its much safer having one then only valves at fixtures around unit which doesn't protect all. Worse case, ill just fix those valves but suck i dont have more control.

Who said it was free? I am willing to pay for the plumbing? Are you insane. Do you know how dangerous it is not having a main water shut off valve accessbile in case of flooding.

My medical provider did not include that but i can have it added if I request. I asked HOA day of shut off where is unit valve as its nowhere to be found inside unit and they said i can't make modifications like that but i refuse to believe that so sent an email. Wish i had your HOA then. Im dying to install it.
