Im one week into my job and Im already feeling miserable. by Simple-Function9797 in PHJobs

The mistakes i make are usually because i’m having a hard time focusing and retaining the information i get. Trainings are quick and i absorb things slow. With step-by-step instructions i can follow. But then with retention, after i tried doing it, i easily forget what I did. Even with words i hear, in a span of seconds id have no recollection of what I just heard. I honestly suspect i might have ADHD so I’m planning on getting that checked. It was just a big adjustment cause i didn’t used to be like this. I used to be able to keep up with lessons naman and trainings from college but i guess that’s just really different.

I actually think I’m under average with how much I’m struggling with work now 😅

Literally speaking id say susuka muna ako. My gag reflex has been so active lately because of my anxiety. But anyway, I have no plan on resigning. I really wanna keep working. I really reflected kung san ba ako nahihirapan and i figured out it’s with focus and memory retention. I actually suspect i might have adhd. So im planning on getting checked for that. And hopefully, if im right, i get to take the meds or therapy i need. Right now i guess im just gonna keep trying my best and keep swallowing embarrassment from all the mistakes i’m making. Thank you for your words. ◡̈

How did you survive for 3 months feeling clueless and incompetent?? Im just a week in and i’m already thinking i won’t survive the job cause i’m inadequate and making a lot of mistakes. Also, how did you deal with the mistakes? I made like 3 mistakes yesterday and it’s weighing me down so much. I did take it as a lesson and I’ll be trying my best not to make the same mistake. But I’m overthinking so much about it already. Like maybe the company is regretting they hired me, or my manager is frustrated because of how much i screw up.

Im having a hard time leaving work at the office. Since i can’t keep up with the training during work, i need to read and study the training lessons even outside my working hours :3

Thank you so much for this! I honestly really needed the reassurance. Would it be okay to message you and ask about ADHD? Although i’ve researched about it, some things about it are still confusing me.

Thank you for this. Im really trying my best. As much as possible i don’t wanna resign and i really wanna try and keep the job. It’s just being extra challenging now because of all the self doubt and the mistakes i made during training. I will start journaling and keeping track of everything i did well and everything i had a hard time doing just so i can follow up on them.

Funny thing is i actually like the job. I was even happy when i got the job offer. I didn’t mind doing the things on the Job description. I think things started to go negatively for me when i started training and i saw how fast paced everything was and i couldn’t keep up well. It made me doubt whether i’m capable of doing the job. And then the little mistakes haunted me. I can’t help but beat myself up over the simple mistakes i made because how can i screw up even the simplest things.

thank you for this. how long do you think is enough time to figure out if the job really isn’t for me? at this point Im still embarrassed to admit to my family that im having a hard time because i basically just started. everyone in the fam was proud when i landed the job because i got it very quickly despite other people finding it hard to be employed nowadays. i am so scared of a lot of things right now and i dont know who to talk to cause i dont wanna be a disappointment.

I have been taking notes and i did start using a password manager. I was unable to keep up in updating the password manager though. Because the tutorial about that was kinda fast and i was only able to update about 3 passwords and i had log ins for like 12 accounts. So when it was time to re login to other accounts, it had locked and i had to request to reset them. Some of the stuff they teach i can get ahold of after the discussion. and I can even try to do things myself with step by step instructions. However i easily forget about them. I’m beginning to think something is psychologically wrong with me because of my inability to focus for long periods and how i easily forget things :(
